Division 3 Sectional Golf Championships: Ayer Shirley Shines Again; Old Rochester Cruises

Posted: October 14, 2025

The 2025 MIAA Fall Golf Sectional Championships teed off October 14, and the defending Division 3 State Champion is right on course, setting the stage with another Central championship. In the South, another recent state titleist earned its shot by ending a sectional tournament drought.

Two more winners were set to be crowned on October 15, with the North tournament at Far Corner Golf Club in Boxford, and the West championship at Agawam Municipal.

Qualifying teams from each section will advance to the Division 3 State Championship on October 20 at Blissful Meadows Golf Club in Uxbridge. In addition, any individuals in the top 10 percent (plus ties) in their respective sectional tournaments also will advance.

Here is a look at the action:

Division 3 Central

Another year, but a similar result for Ayer Shirley Regional High School. Led by 2024 Division 3 state champion Reid Ohanesian, the Panthers were dominant at Shining Rock Golf Club in Northbridge with a team score of 38-over, well ahead of runner-up Hopedale Jr./Sr. High School (59-over).

It wasn’t nearly as easy for Ohanesian, whose 6-over 78 placed him only 1 shot ahead of Hopedale’s Colin Haynes as well as Tommy McKiernan of Greater Lowell Tech HS. But Ohanesian’s teammate Aadi Patel was alone in fourth (8-over 80), and the Panthers also got scoring efforts from Jason Turner and Tyler Trask, who were in a three-way tie for 10th (12-over 84).

Tying for fifth at 10-over 82 were Clinton High School teammates Thomas Bates and Jake Notaro, along with Noah Petrossi of Bromfield School. Gavin Werling of Littleton High School and Cooper Chaves of Nipmuc Regional High School were another shot back at 11-over 83, tied for eighth.

Lunenburg High School was third as a team (68-over), followed by Greater Lowell in fourth (+70) and Clinton in fifth (+75).

Division 3 South

Jack Czerkowicz shot a 4-over 76 for a narrow 1-shot victory at Foxborough Country Club, but he and the rest of his Old Rochester Regional High School teammates had a much easier time securing the team championship.

The Bulldogs finished at 30-over to take home the program’s first sectional championship since 2014. Old Rochester did win the Division 2 State Championship in 2022, but fell short in the South qualifier.

That was not a problem this time around as Old Rochester was well ahead of runner-up St. John Paul II High School (+49). Luke Pierre was in a three-way tie for second (5-over 77) for the Bulldogs, Brady Mills was tied for eighth (10-over 82), and August Herbert tied for 10th (11-over 83).

Ben Catalano of Cape Cod Academy and Aidan Connell of Seekonk High School tied with Pierre in second. Blaise Chatigny of Sandwich High School was along in fifth (6-over 78), followed by Brian Skelly of St. John Paul II in sixth (8-over 80) and Owen Lestage of Norwell High School in seventh (9-over 81).\

Norwell (+55) placed third as a team, with Cape Cod Academy and Monomoy Regional High School tied for fourth, each at +60.
