MIAA Committee Highlights: August 27-September 9, 2024

The following are highlights from MIAA Committee meetings that took place from August 27 to September 9, 2024. These highlights are not intended as a substitute for official meeting minutes, which will be posted if approved by the respective commitments at a future date.

Tournament Management Committee - Tuesday, August 27, 2024

Soccer Committee State Finals date change request from 11/16/24 to 11/23/24 was approved. Cut-off date is not being changed.

Highlight new format approval process for school year 2025-2026:

• All formats due to TMC by March 1, 2025 
• Formats will be shared with the BOD in May 2025
• All formats will be posted prior to July 1 of each year

Football proposal will be shared in advance of the September TMC meeting. Jay Costa will join the meeting to present the proposal and answer any questions. Intent is to discuss proposal at the September meeting and vote in October meeting.

Field Hockey Committee - Thursday, September 5, 2024

Election of officers:

• Chair – Dave Bouchard
• Vice Chair – John O’Neil
• Secretary – Patti Rowe

Minutes of April 10, 2024 meeting approved unanimously

Format – Review of 2024 Format with committee.

• Fall 2025 Format will be on the December meeting agenda. New format calendarization was shared with the committee. Format should be complete by March 1, 2025 for TMC review then to BOD in May.

Rule Change Proposals – Action – Rules 1-17, 20 & 26

• Committee members voted on proposals

Discussion regarding rule change proposal specific to field hockey masks yielded action. The committee voted to support a communication be crafted by committee leadership and liaison to send to leadership of all FH schools and FH coaches to highlight the NFHS rules allowing masks and goggles during play. 

August Field Hockey Summit – A report was provided by John O’Neil. Feedback from coaches and officials has been extremely positive. There will be an effort to provide a post-season gathering as well this year.

Volleyball Committee - Monday, September 9, 2024
