2026 Girls Winter Swimming & Diving Sectional Championships: Dover-Sherborn Gets First; Concord-Carlisle, Minnechaug Cruise

The 2026 MIAA Sectional Girls Swimming & Diving Championships were held Friday, February 7 at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley (South and North), and Sunday, February 9 at Springfield College's Linkletter Natatorium (Central/West).

Here is a recap of the action:

South

Dover-Sherborn High School captured first place in only two events, but it was enough for the Raiders to bring home the school’s first sectional championship.

Sophomore Raina Wu was the only individual winner for D-S, taking the 100-yard freestyle in 53.31 seconds. The Raiders also won the 200 freestyle relay (senior Clare Lombard, sophomore Dakota Callahan, Wu, and senior Nora Olson) in 1 minute, 42.7 seconds to finish with 235 team points, comfortably ahead of runner-up Seekonk High School (194).

Also scoring big for Dover-Sherborn, Callahan placed second in the 200 freestyle (1:59.05), and sophomore Norah Yang was third in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.25).

Seekonk had one of the bright spots of the meet as junior Lydia Craft captured the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.93) and 500 freestyle (5:05.92). Craft also helped the Warriors to victories in the 200 medley relay 1:52.3) and 400 freestyle relay (3:42.6) along with sophomore Bonnie Arrigo, junior Emily Tonino, and eighth-grader Avery Abreu.

Senior Feining Huang of Sharon High School was the other double winner, taking the 100-yard butterfly (55.58) and 100 backstroke (55.95). Her Sharon teammate junior Cora Shea added a first in the 200 individual medley (2:10.19), helping the Eagles to fourth place overall (141) behind Bishop Feehan High School (149).

Also securing individual wins were freshman Samantha Lee of Norwood High School (50 freestyle, 24.78), senior Maddie Reif of Norwell High School (diving, 492.750 points), and senior Molly Connors of Ashland High School (100 breaststroke, 1:07.03).

South results

North

Concord-Carlisle High School continued its dominance of the North Sectional Championship, winning the title for the fourth consecutive year. The Patriots rode a double victory from senior Bea Turrettini and two more first-place finishes to score 279 points, just ahead of runner-up Weston High School.

Turrettini’s wins came in the 200 freestyle (1:55.74) and 500 freestyle (5:03.46). Freshman Audrey Herz was the winner of the diving (493.650), and Concord-Carlisle finished it off by capturing the 400 freestyle relay (3:45.03) led by Turrettini, then followed by seniors Sarah Nadzo and Hana Baldini, and freshman Polly Curran.

Senior Sarah Fortier added key points for the Patriots, placing third in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.89).

Wayland High School’s Maya Pereira was a double winner, as the sophomore took the 50 freestyle (24.26) and 100 freestyle (54.37). She also swam a leg of Wayland’s victorious 200 medley relay along with senior Cara Hill, sophomore Izzy Irwin, and freshman Rinnah Shulman (1:51.71), and the Warriors also took the 200 freestyle relay with Shulman, Hill, Pereira and junior Grace Oppenheim (1:40.20).

Weston’s runner-up finish was paced by wins from senior Kate Krueger in the 200 IM (2:08.62) and freshman Philina Zhou in the 100 backstroke (59.53).

Other winners were Bedford High School freshman Olivia Panseri in the 100 butterfly (58.91) and Mystic Valley Charter School senior Britney Nayiga in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.12).

North results

Central/West

Freshman Olivia Parent delivered a pair of individual victories to spark Minnechaug Regional High School to back-to-back sectional championships. The Falcons finished with 272 points to top a pack that included runner-up Amherst-Pelham Regional High School (248) and third-place Longmeadow High School (236).

Minnechaug kicked off the meet by winning the 200 medley relay as junior Emma Grzebieniowski, freshman Nicole Grabowski, junior Chelsea Ortega and sophomore Caroline Euber finished in 1:56.07). Then it was Parent’s turn with a win in the 200 freestyle (1:55.24), and she later added her second gold in the 500 freestyle (5:00.33). Minnechaug also capped the meet with a third in the 400 freestyle relay.

Amherst got its lone victory in the meet’s final event, taking the 400 freestyle relay with seniors Finnley Chambers and Audrey Spiridopolos, eighth-grader Emory Albertson and senior Rowan Albertson (3:42.34).

Longmeadow’s effort was sparked by the meet’s lone double winner as senior Lilah Doherty won the 50 freestyle (23.76) and 100 freestyle (56.69). Doherty also swam the lead leg on the Lancers’ winning 200 freestyle relay, followed by junior Izabella Strebel, Chloe Anderson, and junior Emillia Szyluk (1:39.04).

Also winning individual events were: senior Makyala Ellis of Westfield High School (200 IM, 2:11.00); junior Avery Rogers of Advanced Math & Science Academy (diving, 443.20); senior Kayden McKibbin of Grafton High School (100 free, 52.85); freshman Natalie Parent of Belchertown High School (100 backstroke, 58.59); and senior Lauren Holmes of East Longmeadow High School (100 breaststroke, 1:11.18).
