Job Description

The Varsity Girls Ice Hockey Coach works with student-athletes to teach the fundamentals of the sport and the concept of competing as a member of a team, while fostering physical fitness and the continuous development of skills. The coach models exemplary behavior in relations with teammates, opponents, spectators and officials, to foster social, emotional, and physical growth & development and support what is best for the overall character development of the
student-athlete. The coach emphasizes the importance of continuous improvement, teamwork, diversity, sportsmanship, pride, and work ethic, while providing the opportunity for a safe, positive and enjoyable experience for the student-athlete. The Varsity Girls Ice Hockey Coach reports to the Athletic Director.

Job Requirements

1. MIAA Coaching certificate if first serving as an interscholastic coach after July 1, 2005;
2. Bachelor’s degree in related field and previous relevant coaching experience, or an
equivalent combination of training and experience;
3. Knowledge of MIAA rules governing athletic activities;
4. Ability to motivate student athletes, communicate clearly and effectively, and relate to
and work with students of differing athletic abilities;
5. Commitment to remain current in knowledge of the sport, and its coaching strategies;
