Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, Bancroft School seeks a dedicated and experienced Head Girls’ Varsity Basketball Coach to lead its high school program in the competitive Eastern Independent League (EIL) and New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC). The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader who builds a strong, inclusive team culture and supports each student-athlete’s growth—academically, athletically and personally. A key component of this role includes providing guidance and support for student-athletes pursuing collegiate basketball opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Leadership
* Direct all phases of the girls' varsity basketball program.
* Foster an inclusive, respectful, empowering, and competitive team environment aligned with the School’s mission and values.
* Collaborate with the athletic director to oversee the development of the entire girls' basketball program, including the middle school girls' program.
Player & Team Development
* Plan and lead effective practices focused on skill development, strategic team play, conditioning, and character-building.
* Develop student-athletes at all levels of experience and skill
* Prioritize athlete wellness and work collaboratively with the School’s athletic trainer, Dean of Students, and school counselors.
Game & Event Management
* Prepare the team for league and NEPSAC competition through thoughtful game planning and adjustments.
* Supervise and direct assistant coaches and coordinate with athletic training staff.
* Attend all required EIL and NEPSAC league meetings, submit required score reports, rosters, forms, and other information to the appropriate EIL and NEPSAC administrators
Communication & Administration
* Communicate effectively with players, parents, staff, and administration.
* Ensure compliance with all school, EIL, and NEPSAC rules and regulations.
College Recruiting Support
* Actively guide student-athletes interested in continuing their basketball careers at the collegiate level.
* Build relationships with college coaches and assist in the recruitment process.
* Educate and advise student-athletes and families on the NCAA recruiting landscape.
* Coordinate exposure opportunities such as showcases and camps.

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
* Prior coaching experience at the high school, AAU, or collegiate level (head coaching experience preferred).
* Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and team management.
* Ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor to high school student-athletes.
* Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or ability to obtain).
* Must pass School background checks
