Posted: February 2, 2026

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association is proud to announce Violet Roche is the Student of the Month for the month of January.  Violet, a senior at Nauset Regional High School is the definition of a "scholar-athlete." As she has spent her high school career demonstrating that elite athletic performance and rigorous academic commitment are not mutually exclusive, but rather complementary. Her leadership on the field, in the classroom, and throughout the Cape Cod community makes her an exemplary candidate for the MIAA Student of the Month.

Violet is a rare three-season standout whose versatility is matched only by her consistency. She has dominated the Cape and Islands League, earning League MVP honors five times across Indoor and Outdoor Track. A specialist in jumps, Violet is a Division 4 State Champion in the High Jump and a State Runner-Up in the Long Jump. Her talents have taken her to the biggest stages, competing at the New England Championships and the New Balance Nationals where she placed 23rd in the nation in the high jump last year.  As a soccer star, Violet is a cornerstone of the Nauset defense. A three-time League All-Star and Eastern Massachusetts All-Star, she was recently named the Team MVP and Defensive MVP for her senior season. Her ability to lead from the back line has been instrumental in the team's success.

Academically, Violet’s transcript is as decorated as her trophy case. Maintaining High Honors throughout her underclassman years, she has successfully balanced a demanding athletic schedule with high-level coursework. She is a recipient of the NRHS Bremner Cup, an elite award specifically designated for students who achieve both athletic and academic excellence.  As a member of the National Honor Society, Violet serves as a peer tutor, helping classmates navigate difficult subjects. Her interest in sports medicine is evident through her role as an NRHS Athletic Trainers Intern, where she applies her disciplined work ethic to helping fellow athletes.

Violet’s commitment to her community is evident in her deep-rooted commitment to the Lower Cape community. She views leadership as a responsibility to serve others, a trait she has displayed through her four-year tenure on the Student Senate.  Violet has been a vital volunteer for Lower Cape Outreach, organizing and delivering massive toy and food drives during the holidays to support local families in need.  From performing Irish Step Dance at local nursing homes to managing social media for the Orleans Citizens Forum, Violet finds diverse ways to give back.  A mentor to many, she remains dedicated to the next generation of athletes, volunteering her Saturday mornings to assist with Recreational Youth Soccer programs.

The MIAA congratulates Violet and the entire Nauset school community.
