Posted: May 1, 2026

The MIAA is proud to announce Sreemayi Reddy of Westwood High School as the Student-Athlete of the Month for April 2026. Sreemayi is a remarkable junior who embodies the true spirit of a student-athlete, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to excellence in the classroom, in her athletic pursuits, and through profound service to her community.

Sreemayi has set a benchmark for academic rigor and curiosity at Westwood High School.  As a junior, she has already successfully completed 6 AP courses, with plans to take an even more demanding course load in her senior year.  She has maintained a near-perfect GPA while managing her packed schedule with ease.  Described by her educators as thoughtful, innovative, and deeply curious, Sreemayi is a natural leader who elevates every academic environment she enters.

Sreemayi’s dedication, versatility, and leadership shine brightly across multiple varsity sports.  A dominant force in the 100-meter butterfly and 200-meter freestyle, Sreemayi's dedication earned her the Swim Coach’s Award and the Most Improved Award. Beyond competing, she acts as a swim instructor, a lifeguard, and assists the program by timing and officiating diving events. Her leadership has earned her a Senior Captain Nomination.  In her tennis season, she demonstrated incredible adaptability as Sreemayi competes at 3rd singles and 1st doubles. Her elite skill is further backed by training in Club Tennis at Wimbledon. Recognizing her leadership and character, she was named Varsity Tennis Junior Captain.

Her athletic excellence has also been recognized locally as a recipient of the Westwood Athlete of the Month award.

Sreemayi’s impact stretches far beyond the walls of WHS, accumulating an astonishing 650-plus community service hours over five years of dedicated volunteerism.  She has given her time to premier medical and care facilities, including Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Beth Israel, Gratis Healthcare, and Fox Hill Village assisted living. Notably, she worked at the LASA Med Camp, helping provide medical outreach to underrepresented communities.

For Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, Sreemayi brilliantly bridged athletics and community service. She partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association to launch a campaign where she coordinated with all spring sports teams to wear purple pins, successfully raising community-wide awareness.

Sreemayi serves her town as an Election Poll Worker, volunteers with the League of Women Voters, Westwood Youth and Family Services, Story Time Crafts, and supports Father Bill’s homeless shelter.

Her selfless commitment has earned her prestigious accolades, including the Westwood RAY Award, Project 351 leadership recognition, the Hugh O'Brian Leadership Recognition (HOBY), and the Rotary Award.

"Sreemayi is an outstanding student and athlete who upholds immense grit and dedication to all of her pursuits. She continuously contributes to our community and has made a lasting, positive impact. She truly defines what it means to be a leader on the field, in the classroom, and in society."
