MIT once again is the host of the 2025 MIAA Tennis Championships, which will be played Sunday, June 15 after being delayed a day because of rain. Boys and Girls matches in each division will be played simultaneously across the 12 courts.

Here's a look at what's ahead:

Division 1 Girls

Wellesley High School vs. Lexington High School
9 a.m.

It’s a huge matchup of unbeaten squads but only one can finish the season that way.

No. 4 seed Wellesley is the defending champion after beating Boston Latin (4-1) in 2024. The Raiders are 2-2 in title matches.

No. 6 Lexington is 4-0 in the championship round, including back-to-back wins over Lincoln-Sudbury in 2022 and 2023.

ROAD TO MIT:  Wellesley – beat Malden (5-0), Franklin 5-0), Acton-Boxborough (5-0), Winchester (4-1) … Lexington – beat Methuen (5-0), Concord-Carlisle (4-1), Westford Academy (3-2), Newton South (3-2)

Division 2 Girls

No. 1 Longmeadow High School vs. No. 2 Wayland High School
2 p.m.

Longmeadow is the defending state champion, but otherwise neither of these teams have much tournament history since 2017.

No. 1 seed Longmeadow has made 17 previous title appearances but before last year’s win the Lancers have just one other championship – in 1995 (4-1 over North Attleborough).

No. 2 Wayland has appeared only back-to-back in 2016 and 2017, with the Warriors beating Hingham (3-2) in the latter for that program’s lone crown.

ROAD TO MIT: Longmeadow – beat Somerset Berkley (5-0), Bedford (5-0), Milton (3-2), Hingham (3-2) …  Wayland – beat Melrose (5-0), Marblehead (4-1), Duxbury (5-0), Notre Dame Academy (4-1)

Division 3 Girls

Dover-Sherborn High School vs. Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School
4:30 p.m.

Two more schools that are relative newcomers to this stage.

No. 1 seed Dover-Sherborn hasn’t been here since 2009, when the Raiders beat South Hadley (5-0). D-S is 2-1 overall in title matches.

No. 3 seed Martha’s Vineyard’s only resume is three straight championships from 2015-2017, twice vs. Hopedale and most recently a 5-0 win over Monument Mountain.

ROAD TO MIT: Dover-Sherborn – beat Wareham (5-0), Swampscott (5-0), Weston (4-1), Bishop Fenwick (5-0) … Martha’s Vineyard – beat Seekonk (4-1), Latin Academy (3-2), Newburyport (4-1), Saint John Paul II (3-2)

Division 4 Girls

Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School vs. Manchester Essex Regional High School
11:30 a.m.

On the flip side are two Cape Ann League rivals who also square off for the trophy in 2023, a 4-1 Manchester Essex win.

No. 4 seed Hamilton-Wenham is making its fourth straight title appearance, and the Generals are defending champions after beating Lynnfield (5-0) a year ago. They also beat Wareham (4-1) in 2022.

No. 6 seed Manchester Essex has nine titles in school history and the Hornets are making their 13th title appearance.

The teams split their regular-season CAL meetings, both by 3-2 scores – H-W winning on May 1and ME responding on May 15.

ROAD TO MIT: Hamilton-Wenham – beat Rising Tide (5-0), Millis (4-1), Cohasset (4-1), Lynnfield (3-2) … Manchester Essex – beat Rockport (4-1), Amesbury (5-0), Monomoy (4-1), Bromfield (3-2)

Division 1 Boys

St. John’s Preparatory School vs. Lexington High School
9 a.m.

No. 1 seed St.  John’s Prep is looking to repeat its 2024 state title, when it beat Concord-Carlisle (4-1). The Eagles have won six of their previous seven championship appearances.

No. 6 seed Lexington won it all in 2023 (5-0 over Brookline) and is 3-4 in previous state finals.

The teams met on May 6, with Prep’s 3-2 win being the only blemish on either team’s record.

ROAD TO MIT: St. John’s Prep – beat Methuen (5-0), Belmont (5-0), Needham (5-0), Concord-Carlisle (3-1) … Lexington – beat Natick (5-0), Wellesley (3-2), Brookline (3-2), Acton-Boxborough (3-1)

Division 2 Boys

Duxbury High School vs. Westborough High School
2 p.m.

This will be the third year in a row the teams square off for the Division 2 title and it will serve as the rubber match – for now.

While No. 4 Duxbury is the higher seed, the Dragons will be looking to avenge their 3-2 title match loss from a year ago after beating Westborough, 3-2, in 2023. This is Duxbury’s 12th championship appearance in all as it seeks its sixth championship.

For the No. 7 seed Rangers, the win last year was just their third in 14 title appearances.

Westborough already has a 5-0 head-to-head meeting from May 14 in its pocket.

ROAD TO MIT: Duxbury – beat Billerica (5-0), Marblehead (5-0), Wayland (4-1), Hopkinton (3-1) ... Westborough – beat Reading (5-0), Mansfield (5-0), Hingham (4-1), Sharon (3-2)

Division 3 Boys

Bedford High School vs. Weston High School
4:30 p.m.

There is no shortage of history between these two schools, including the 2024 title match that Weston won in a 3-2 thriller.

Bedford earned the No. 1 seed as the Buccaneers look for their third championship overall and first since 2015 (5-0 over Whitinsville Christian).

Sunday’s match will add to a long history for No. 6 Weston, which is the three-time defending champion and has won 10 overall since 2010 without a loss. The Wildcats have 13 championships in all.

Bedford already beat Weston, 3-2, in a Dual County League matchup on April 30.

ROAD TO MIT: Bedford – beat St. Mary’s (5-0), Old Rochester (5-0), Holliston (4-1), Latin Academy (4-1) … Weston – beat Pentucket (5-0), North Reading (5-0), Newburyport (4-1), Martha’s Vineyard (5-0)

Division 4 Boys

Manchester Essex Regional High School vs. Lynnfield High School
11:30 a.m.

This is another rematch of a year ago, won by Manchester Essex in a 5-0 sweep.

That was the third title overall for the No. 1 seed Hornets, who previously hadn’t won since 1998.

No. 2 Lynnfield is making its fourth straight title appearance and fifth overall, but the Pioneers are still searching for their first championship.

In their regular-season Cape Ann League meeting on May 8, Manchester Essex rolled to a 4-1 victory.

ROAD TO MIT: Manchester Essex – beat Westport (5-0), Bromfield (5-0), Hamilton-Wenham (4-1), Cohasset (5-0) ... Lynnfield – beat Springfield International (5-0), Nantucket (5-0), Mystic Valley (4-1), Sturgis Charter West (5-0)
