Robert Wiesehahn of Duxbury High School: Student-Athlete of the Month for March 2026
The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association is proud to announce Robert Wiesehahn of Duxbury High School as the Student of the Month for March 2026. Robert is a distinguished student-athlete who embodies the core values of the MIAA through his unwavering integrity, academic dedication, and selfless leadership.
Academically, Robert maintains a rigorous course load, consistently challenging himself with a demanding academic schedule. Known as a leader in the classroom, he approaches his studies with the same discipline he brings to the field. His strong GPA is a testament to his work ethic, proving that excellence is a habit both in and out of uniform. His preparation and attention to detail will be a great source of focus and success as he plans his collegiate decision.
As captain of the Duxbury soccer team, Robert has earned the profound respect of his teammates and coaches alike. While his skill on the pitch is evident, his true impact was felt during the team’s most challenging moments. Following a high-stakes championship game that ended in a difficult situation, Robert served as the steadying force for his program. He remained calm under pressure, deflecting personal praise during successes and providing a vital "reset" for the team during adversity. His refusal to retaliate or cause conflict—choosing instead to lead with perspective and composure—was instrumental in helping his teammates, coaches, and family navigate a difficult post-season process. He gained the praise and respect of all involved in the incident as a leader and a young man with a very bright future.
In the Duxbury community, Robert is a "quiet leader" who acts out of a genuine passion for doing the right thing. He is highly active in numerous school-based community service initiatives, consistently volunteering his time to better the Duxbury High School environment. Whether he is organizing peer-led service projects or advocating for sportsmanship, Robert’s focus is always on the collective good rather than individual recognition.
As Jeff Maidment, Duxbury Athletic Director said in his nomination, "Robert is a wonderful person who is soft-spoken but has a passion for doing the right thing. When his team struggled, he was the leader they all looked to for a reset. His leadership on and off the field is a direct result of how our team made it through this difficult time."
Congratulations, Robert, on this well-deserved honor!
