
Outdoor Track and Field Meet of Champions: Sharon's Nina Kyei-Aboagye, Peabody's Alex Jackson Lead Record-Breaking Performances
The 2025 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Meet of Champions battled the elements, but after a successful Day 1 on Thursday, June 5 at Fitchburg State University, the second day was postponed a day because of inclement weather. The event concluded with Day 2 on Sunday, June 8.
Girls
Nina Kyei-Aboagye of Sharon High School not only won a pair of events, but she also set meet records in both. Kyei-Aboagye blazed to victory in the 100-meter dash in 11.62 seconds, breaking the mark of 11.79 set last season. In the 200 meters, Kyei-Aboagye finished in a time of 23.28, besting the old mark of 23.97 that stood since 2019.
Abigail Hennessy also had a record-breaking performance in winning a pair of events. Hennessy’s 1-mile run of 4 minutes, 37.11 seconds just edged the previous mark (4:37.23) from 2003. Hennessy also won the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.11).
Maddie Wilson of Notre Dame Academy swept to victory in the wheelchair racing events, breaking a pair of her own records in the process. Wilson won the 800-meter wheelchair in 2:30.59, bettering her mark from 2023 (2:41.66) by more than 11 seconds, and also was almost more than a minute better in winning the 1-mile wheelchair in 5:37.56 (old mark 6:31.36 from 2023). Wilson added a victory in the 2-mile wheelchair in 11.16.97.
Alaina Bodine of Brookline High School won both the shot put ambulatory para (16-1¾) and discus ambulatory para (48-2).
A pair of other meet records fell over the course of the two days of competition.
Breanna Braham of Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School won the 400 meters in 53.70, nearly a second faster than the previous mark from 2014 (54.51). In the 100-meter hurdles, Emmanuella Edozien of Natick High School prevailed in 13.57 seconds, ahead of the old mark of 13.72 from 2021.

Boys
Alex Jackson of Peabody Veterans Memorial High School had a dominant performance in the field events, setting a meet record in the discus throw and also capturing gold in the shot put.
Jackson’s discus throw of 187 feet, 6 inches broke the previous mark of 180-5 set in 2021. He added first place in the top throw of 62-5¼.
Brookline High School’s Altamo Aschkenasy also had a pair of wins on the track, taking home both the 800 meters (1:51.62) and 1-mile (4:08.31).
Luka Juric of Milton High School won the 100-meter dash in 10.66 seconds, and also was part of the winning 4x100 relay time for the Wildcats. Juric ran the third leg following Zakai Perkins and Noah Tran, then Chase Nixon anchored Milton’s win in 41.87.
Delmace Joseph Mayo of Brighton High School broke his own mark in the 800-meter wheelchair, finishing in 1:55.84). Joseph Mayo also was victorious in the 2-mile wheelchair in 8:49.65. The 100-meter wheelchair record also fell, as Colton Robinson of West Springfield High School won in 20.14. Robinson also won the 400-meter wheelchair in 1:10.70.
Ryan Feeney of Melrose High School was a double winner in the 100-meter dash ambulatory para (15,15) and shot put ambulatory para (21-8¾).
Ryan Kyle of Westford Academy set the meet record in the 400-meter hurdles in 51.72, breaking the old mark (53.53) from 2010. The Lowell High School 4x800 relay team of Raymond Dafe, James Kelly, Alex Rodgers and Abdul Jalloh won in 7:46.18, more than a second ahead of the previous record (7:47.73) from 2015.
