Girls Gymnastics State Championships: Masconomet Back On Top; Zinnia Hopkinson Wins All-Around Again

Zinnia Hopkinson of Central Catholic High School followed up her North sectional championship by winning the All-Around again during the 2025 MIAA Girls Gymnastics State Championship meet on Saturday, March 1 at Algonquin Regional in Northborough.

Meanwhile, Masconomet Regional earned its third state championship in four years while denying Hopkinson and Central Catholic a repeat of their team state championship from 2024. The Chieftains finished with a team score of 149.050, including top scores on both the uneven bars and floor exercise, while taking second on the vault and balance beam.

Hopkinson nearly made it a clean sweep, finishing first in the bars (9.800) and beam (9.700) and sharing the top score on the floor exercise (9.650). Her all-around score of 38.475 put her well ahead of runner-up Kaylee Wescott of Danvers/Lynnfield, who also was second to Hopkinson in the North sectional. Wescott earned the top score on the vault (9.700) and was second on the bars and floor, finishing with a score of 38.400.

Sarah Aldrich was the top finisher for Masconomet, placing third in the all-around (37.825), including a second place on the beam (9.675). Kate Mugge placed fifth (37.100), Ava Nolan was 16th, and Janey Young 23rd.

Newton North High School placed second as a team (147.050), including a second-place finish in the uneven bars. Sofia Dukakis was the top finisher for the Tigers, taking seventh in the all-around (36.925).

Mansfield High School, the South sectional champion, was third as a team (146.400), followed by Danvers/Lynnfield (146.325) and Central Catholic (146.225).

Other top-10 all-around finishers included: Camryn Donovan of Danvers/Lynnfield (4th, 37.250); Kallie McCarthy of Central Catholic (6th, 37.100); Ciara Thomas of Brockton/Cardinal Spellman/Stoughton (8th, 36.850); Molly Haughton of Newton North (9th, 36.525); and Juliah Donahue-Wilfred of Brockton/Cardinal Spellman/Stoughton (10th, 36.425).
