Emily Anne Wintner of Cambridge Rindge & Latin School: Student-Athlete of the Month for November 2025

Posted: January 7, 2026

The MIAA is proud to recognize Emily Anne Wintner as the Student-Athlete of the Month for November 2025. A senior at Cambridge Rindge & Latin School, Emily embodies the ideal of the "citizen-athlete," balancing a rigorous academic load with multi-sport leadership and a profound commitment to social advocacy.  Emily was nominated by athletic director Tom Arria.

Emily Anne is a scholar of the highest caliber, known for her intellectual curiosity and disciplined approach to learning. Her transcript reflects a commitment to the most challenging coursework available.  She is currently enrolled in three AP courses and has already successfully completed five others during her freshman through junior years.  She is an active member of the STARS Program, a selective initiative focused on developing community leadership programming.  Emily Anne completed the specialized "Train the Trainer" course for Peer Mentorship. This intensive program equipped her with the pedagogical skills to lead Consent Education workshops and, more importantly, to train her peers to become instructors themselves.

A versatile and dedicated athlete, Emily Anne's impact on the CRLS athletic department spans all three seasons. A four-year veteran of the varsity soccer team, she served as a team captain this Fall.  Despite a season-ending knee injury, Emily Anne has remained an integral part of her team. Her transition from active player to sideline leader demonstrates a selfless dedication to her teammates' success and a positive approach to adversity. Her leadership extends beyond the pitch as she is slated to lead as captain for both the Swimming and Rugby teams later this year.

Emily Anne’s most significant contribution to her community is her work in fostering a safe and respectful school culture. For the last two years, she has spearheaded the CRLS Consent Education Program. As a primary organizer, she has trained athletic captains to build a "culture of consent" within their respective teams and the broader school building. She has served as a Consent Camp counselor and frequently volunteers her time in various youth athletic programs, mentoring the next generation of Cambridge athletes.

In the words of those who work with her daily, Emily Anne is "one of the finest student-athletes and human beings" to walk the halls of CRLS. Her legacy will not be defined by goals scored or races won, but by her tireless effort to ensure her school and community are better, safer places for those who follow her. Her intelligence and empathy, combined with her ability to lead through both triumph and injury, make her a truly exceptional representative of the MIAA. Congratulations to Emily Anne and the entire Cambridge Rindge & Latin community.
