Chelsea Foley of Ware HS: Student-Athlete of the Month for September 2024

Posted: November 5, 2024

It is with great excitement that the MIAA announces Chelsea Foley, a senior at Ware High School, as the Student of the Month for September 2024. Chelsea is a standout soccer player for the Indians while maintaining a 4.3 GPA and being ranked 3rd in her class.  She was nominated by Ware High School Athletic Director Thomas Shamgochian.

As a six-year varsity soccer player and starter for Ware, she became a captain this year and serves as a great role model for her teammates. Chelsea is very active in Student Council, National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society and is the President of National Art Honor Society.

This year, Chelsea hosted her second annual “Gold Night” at Ware Jr./Sr. High School.  Similar to last year, Chelsea set up and managed the event from start to finish. At last year's event Ware played Holyoke and this year they hosted Mahar. Last year Chelsea's event raised $1,010 and this year she raised $1,870. The monies were donated to The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp was founded in 1988 by Paul Newman with one simple premise in mind: to provide opportunities for children with serious illnesses to experience the transformational spirit and friendships that go hand-in-hand with camp. To raise the money Chelsea set up raffle baskets, on-site bake sale, took donations and sold cancer support ribbons that people could write their names on. This event was a huge undertaking by a student and Chelsea was able to follow through from start to finish. Chelsea is a senior this year and has put the pieces in place for her teammates to carry on this amazing tradition for years to come.

The MIAA is proud to congratulate Chelsea and her entire school community.
