Charlie Wilkie of Dracut Senior High School: Student-Athlete of the Month for April 2026
We are thrilled to announce that Charles "Charlie" Wilkie, a standout senior at Dracut High School, has been named the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Student of the Month for April 2026. Charlie’s selection is a testament to his relentless work ethic, his natural leadership on the field, and his compassionate heart within the Dracut community.
Academically, Charlie defines the term "scholar-athlete." Throughout his tenure at Dracut High, he has consistently maintained High Honors every single term. He has never shied away from a challenge, tackling a rigorous curriculum filled with Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses. With an exceptional GPA of 4.163, Charlie has been an active member of both the National Honor Society and the National Business Honor Society.
Athletically, Charlie has been a powerhouse across three seasons and his athletic resume is nothing short of legendary at Dracut High. In the Fall, Charlie was the Golf Team Captain and No. 1 golfer. He was named a Merrimack Valley All-Star and represented the school in the state tournament. During the Winter Season, Charlie played Ice Hockey where he was a two-time captain and the reigning MVP of the Merrimack Valley Conference. Charlie achieved the 100-point career milestone and was the primary catalyst for the team’s Elite 8 appearance in the state tournament. In the Spring, Charlie plays Lacrosse where he has been a three-year starter and defensive leader. After being voted First Team Merrimack Valley All-Star as a junior, he currently serves as captain. Charlie has officially committed to continue his lacrosse career at Merrimack College this fall.
What truly sets Charlie apart is his character when the cameras are off and the bleachers are empty. He is a young man dedicated to inclusion and service. As a dedicated intern and participant of the Best Buddies Program, Charlie spends countless hours working alongside students with special needs, fostering an environment of kindness and belonging. Charlie is also a member of the Athletic Council where he provides key voice in shaping the culture of the Dracut Athletic Department and a consistent contributor to the annual volleyball tournament to benefit the Dracut Food Bank.
From his Athletic Director Tom DiGeronimo, "Charlie is an exceptional student-athlete and an even finer young man. He leads with humility, consistently setting an example through his actions rather than his words. His daily involvement as a Best Buddies intern reflects his compassion and genuine care for others. In my years in education, I have been fortunate to work with many outstanding student-athletes; Charlie is undoubtedly among the very best."
Congratulations, Charlie, on this well-deserved honor!
