Amelia Spencer of Winthrop HS: Student-Athlete of the Month for April 2025

The MIAA is proud to announce that Amelia Spencer of Winthrop High School has been named Student of the Month for April 2025.
A formidable three-sport athlete throughout her high school career, Amelia has demonstrated outstanding leadership and skill. She is a captain of the Division 1 Winthrop Varsity Ice Hockey team, where she has been a starter since her freshman year. Last year, she was named a NEC All-Star in Hockey. As a senior captain, she continues to lead her team to another Conference Title, marking their third in her four years. Her impressive performance as a defenseman includes averaging over a point per game.
Beyond the rink, Amelia has played varsity soccer as a goalie and will serve as a team captain for the second year in a row in varsity softball this spring season. Her athletic involvement extends to leadership roles as a Bay State Games Student Ambassador (2021-2025), a Morgan's Message Ambassador (2024-2025), an MIAA Student Ambassador, and a member of the MIAA Student Advisory Committee (2024-2025). In recognition of her leadership, she received the Leadership Award for her High School Varsity Softball team in 2023.
Amelia's commitment extends far beyond the classroom and athletic fields. She has been actively involved in numerous school organizations, serving as Sophomore Class Videographer, Junior and Senior Class President, and Executive Board President. For all four years of high school, she has been a member of the student government, student council, the social committee, debate club, math club, and wellness club.
Her dedication to community service is equally impressive. Since December 2020, she has volunteered with Learn to Skate and continues to do so. For the past four summers, she has completed an internship with the North Shore Navigators. Additionally, she has volunteered nearly every Sunday at Winarc since 2023, and coaches for the Winthrop Skating Association on Wednesdays from January to March. Last year, she also served as a camp counselor at the Winthrop Little League Camp in April and July.
Congratulations to Amelia and the entire Winthrop High School community.
