2026 MIAA Gymnastics Sectional Championships: Big Scores For Newton North, Masconomet
The MIAA Gymnastics 2026 Sectional Championships were held Saturday, February 21 at Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough.
Here is a recap of the action:
South
Lucia Grapski and Neharika Jayanth each posted best scores on an individual apparatus and finished in the top four of the all-around to spark Newton North High School to the team championship.
The Tigers finished with 147.475 points, well ahead of runner-up Marlborough High School (143.275). Westborough High School was third (142.375), followed by Bridgewater-Raynham Regional (141.650) and Wellesley High School (141.600).
Lindsay Woodbury of Bridgewater-Raynham was the all-around winner (37.075), despite not finishing first on any of the four apparatus. Woodbury was second on the beam (9.575) and tied for second on the floor exercise (9.500), and added a tie for sixth on the vault and a tie for 11th on the uneven bars.
That was enough to put her ahead of the rest of the pack led by Grapski, whose top scores on the beam (9.625) and floor (9.650) carried her to a runner-up all-around score of 37.025. Lily Moreira of Bridgewater-Raynham also was at 37.025, led by a third on the bars (9.000) and tie for third on the floor (9.500).
Jayanth earned her win on the uneven bars (9.450) and was fourth in the all-around (36.950).
Guari Sharma of Westborough was fifth in the all-around (36.525) after posting the top score on the vault (9.850).
Rounding out the top 10 in the all-around were: Dylan Gaffny of Marlborough (36.400); Maggie Steen of Holliston/Holliston/Millis/Medway (36.175); Paige Austin of Mansfield High School (36.125); Sophie Moore of Mansfield (36.050); and Logan Medeiros of Attleboro High School (36.050).
North
Sarah Aldrich led Masconomet Regional High School to first place in the floor exercise, and the Chieftains also posted the best score on the uneven bars to finish atop the team standings.
Aldrich scored a 9.900 as the top individual score, and Masconomet posted a 37.875 on the floor as part of its overall total of 144.875. The Chieftains also were best on the bars (34.350) and third in both the vault and balance beam to edge past runner-up Andover/North Reading (142.350). Kate Mugge added a first-place finish on the beam (9.850) to help Masconomet to victory.
Carlina Moran of Beverly High School was the all-around winner with a score of 38.375, including the best score of 9.525 on the bars. Moran also was second on the floor (9.600), third on the vault (9.650) and tied for third on the beam (9.600).
Kallie McCarthy of Central Catholic High School won the vault (9.750) on her way to a runner-up finish in the all-around (38.125). Lexie Masters of Wilmington/Bedford was third in the all-around (38.050) and Aldrich fourth (37.800).
Wilmington/Bedford was third as a team (141.375), followed by defending champion Central Catholic (140.375) and Reading Memorial High School (138.500).
Rounding out the top 10 in the all-around were: Hanne Ridley of Acton-Boxboro/Bromfield (37.475); Wren Romiza of Hamilton-Wenham Regional (36.850); Kaya Jackson of Central Catholic (36.725); Alexis Ciavardone of Andover/North Reading (36.425); Rose Marino of Winchester High School (36.250); and Janice Ryou of Wilmington/Bedford (36.000).
