2026 MIAA Boys Indoor Track Championships: St. John's Prep, Hopkinton, Reading, Wakefield, Parker Charter Take Home Titles

The 2026 MIAA Boys Indoor Track Championships were held February 11-15 at the TRACK at New Balance, the first year the venue has hosted MIAA Championship events.

Here is a recap of the action:

Division 1

Saint John’s Preparatory School didn’t win a single event, but used its depth to win a tight battle with Brookline High School at the top of the standings.

The Eagles relied on a second place and three thirds to post 68 points, just ahead of Brookline’s 64. Lexington High School took third (40) and Central Catholic High School was fourth.

Junior Tyson Stroope had the second place for St. John’s Prep in the high jump (6-4). Adding thirds were senior Andrew McManmon in the 55 meters (6.57), junior Mateo DeOrio in the 1,000 (2:35.90), and junior Ethan Caulfield in the shot put (52-0.75).
Lexington senior Simon Tandeih was a double-winner, capturing gold in the 55-meter hurdles (7.51) and long jump (22-9.75).

Brookline was sparked by wins from seniors Harry Flint in the 600 (1:19.64) and Theodore Butty in the 2-mile (9:28.23). Butty also was second in the mile (4:14.73), and the Warriors added wins in both the 4x400 relay (seniors Tony Carballo and Elijah Sweeney, freshman Bryce Hellendrung and Flint – 3:23.51) and 4x800 relay (Carballo, junior Jonathan Traub, Flint and Butty – 8:01.87).

Division 2

Hopkinton High School used a runner-up finish in the final event of the night, the 4x400 relay, to grab a narrow victory in the team standings and the program’s first divisional state championship.

Finishing in 3 minutes, 30.47 seconds, the Hillers trailed event winner Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School (3:29.48) but picked up the valuable points to finish with 69.5, just enough to edge out Concord-Carlisle (69).

Hopkinton also got a big 1-2 finish in the 55-meter hurdles with senior Harry Millar (7.45 seconds) and junior Jacob Logan (7.75), as well as a second and third in the 300 meters from sophomore Ian Weilding (35.66) and senior Iago Ferreira (35.71), respectively. Senior Sean Finnegan also was second in the mile (4:26.63) and 2-mile (9:33.3).

Concord-Carlisle’s push to the top was led by a trio of first-place finishes: senior Cooper Balfour in the 300 (35.59); sophomore Toby Martel in the 1,000 (2:34.72); and sophomore Jackson Misek in the 2-mile (9:32.11). The Patriots also won the 4x800 (8:09.29) with senior Charles MacDonald, Martel, and seniors Joey Bodenrader and Brendan Quinn.

Division 3

Senior Ryan Pulpi was the star in Reading Memorial High School’s first divisional championship since 2013, winning a pair of individual events and anchoring the winning 4x400 relay.

Pulpi won the 55-meter dash (6.40) and also the 300 meters (33:39), who clinched the team title by placing first in the 4x400 (3:27.41) with senior Cameron Gigler, junior Jack Millerick, and senior Owen Sinclair.

Reading’s 55 team points edged out runner-up Walpole High School (46.5), with Greater Lowell Technical School in third (41), and Oliver Ames High School fourth (39).

Junior Andrew Princic added a second place in the 2-mile (9:52.88) for the Rockets, who also finished third in the 4x200.

Walpole made its push with a second in the 4x200 (seniors Arnold Obour-Mensah and Joseph Carter, junior Jeremiah Jean, senior Brady Thomas), as well as a handful of thirds from seniors Jake Stenstrom (55-meter hurdles), Luke Zahurak (1,000) and Nicolas Demelo (shot put).

Greater Lowell got individual wins from senior Maurice King Jr. in the 1,000 meters (2:31.78), junior Matthew Guerin in the mile (4:30.86), and senior Kaleb Lopez in the high jump (6 feet, 2 inches). The Gryphons also won the 4x800 relay with seniors Jesus Andrades and Anthony Beaudoin, King Jr. and Guerin (8:21.42).

Results

Division 4

Senior JaMauri Belmer had two of Wakefield Memorial High School’s three individual first-place finishes, and that was just enough for the Warriors to return to the top of the podium after a one-year absence.

With 56 points, the Warriors won a tight team battle with runner-up Newburyport High School 54). The rest of the pack was well back, led by Pembroke High School in third place (35).

Belmer won the high jump (6 feet, 6 inches) and long jump (22-8.5) for Wakefield, which also got a first place from senior Isaac Melo in the 300 meters (35.59). The Warriors also were first in the 4x200 with senior Edgard Meneguello, junior Jackson Conley, senior Aiden Jones and Melo (1:31.89), with a second in the 4x400 and third in the 4x800.

Newburyport nearly pulled out the victory as senior Kyle Lisauskas was first in the 55-meter hurdles (7.65) and second in the high jump (6-4). Senior Michael Mohoric also won the mile (4:16.19) for the Clippers, who added a first in the 4x400 with junior Will Downs, Mohoric, junior David Walker, and Lisauskas (3:29.38).

Senior Silas Gartner of Falmouth High School also was a double-winner, taking the 1,000 meters (2:29.0) and 2-mile (9:43.1). Senior Nick McCarthy led Pembroke with a first in the shot put (47-11.25).

Results

Division 5

Senior Nathaniel Henshaw won a pair of events and Parker Charter Essentials School won the first indoor track championship in program history.

Henshaw topped the mile with his time of 4:25, and added a victory in the 2-mile (9:33.98), sparking the Panthers to 46 team points. Parker Charter finished just ahead of runner-up Clinton High School (41.5), with Hopedale Jr./Sr. High School third (29) and Monomoy Regional High School fourth (27).

Junior Danny Garrison was the other individual winner for Parker, taking the 1,000 (2:37.67). Parker also won the 4x800 relay in 8:32.98.

Clinton junior Sean Blaze won the 55 dash (6.46) and was third in the 300 (34.98). The Gaels also grabbed first in the 4x200 (1:32.16).
