2026 Girls Outdoor Track and Field Championships: Lexington, Billerica, North Reading Champs Again; Firsts for Canton, Duxbury, Ayer Shirley
The 2026 MIAA Girls Outdoor Track and Field Championships were hosted between Thursday, May 28 and Sunday, May 31 at Merrimack College, Bridgewater State University and Westfield State University. Each site hosted two divisions, with each championship meet covering two days.
Division 1
Amelia Whorton and Ainsley Cuthbertson each won a pair of events and Lexington High School easily repeated as team champion at Westfield State.
Wharton rolled in the 800 meters (2:09.29) and mile (4:52.66), and Cuthbertson dominated the shot put (41-5) and discus (133-7) for Lexington, which compiled 118 points to easily outdistance runner-up Newton North High School (75) and the rest of the field.
Aubrey Deardorf won the triple jump (38-7 ¾) and was second in the long jump, and Lexington also got thirds from Abigail Kohut (100 hurdles), Jane Conrad (2-mile) and Evelyn Radcliffe (discus).
Blake MacNeal sparked Newton North with a win in the long jump (19-3 ¾) and a second in the triple jump. The Tigers also captured the 4x100 relay (48.29).
Needham High School’s Greta Hammer won the 2-mile (10:25.06) and was second in the mile. Boston Latin School’s Chisom Jones was the pentathlon champ (3,172) and also was second in the high jump.
Wachusett Regional High School (61.5), Andover High School (48.5) and Needham (46) rounded out the top five teams.
Division 2
One year after winning the Division 3 crown, Billerica Memorial High School jumped up a rung and added the Division 2 championship at Merrimack College.
Evelyn Wesling won the 800 meters (2:12.53) and was third in the 400 (57.75) for the Indians, who also got victories from Kylie Donahue in the mile (4:51.33) and the 4x800 relay (9:33.09). Lily McGrory was third in both the 100-meter hurdles and pentathlon as Billerica finished with 70 points to narrowly edge out a pack led by Westford Academy (65), Westborough High School (63.5), Wellesley High School (57) and Algonquin Regional High School (55).
Khadijah Diagne of Malden High School was the clear individual standout, sweeping to wins in the 100 meters (12.19), 200 (24.59) and 400 (56.04).
Westford Academy’s runner-up finish was led by Kaitlyn Boakye-Yiadom’s double win in the 100-meter hurdles (14.89) and long jump (18-8¾). Abby Hennessy took the 2-mile (9:50.72) for the Ghosts, and Madeleine O’Leine was the high jump winner (5-2).
Westborough’s Al Regnier won the pentathlon (3,213 points) and also was second in the 100-meter hurdles and long jump.
Division 3
Lauren Raffetto won a pair of events and Canton High School made history with its first divisional championship at Merrimack College.
Raffetto captured the 800 meters (2:13.69) and mile (5:03.54) for the Bulldogs, who compiled 74 points to outlast Melrose High School (68) and Milton High School (60) for the team championship.
Chloe Dubuisson was the other star for Canton with her win in the 400-meter hurdles (1:03.9) as well as a second in the 100-meter hurdles. Adileh Azar won the 2-mile (11:15.29) and was third in the mile for the Bulldogs, who also prevailed in the 4x400 relay.
Nina Kyei-Aboagye of Sharon High School dominated the sprints, sweeping to wins in the 100 meters (11.87) and 200 (23.97). Masconomet Regional High School’s Mara Siewko won the pentathlon (3,347) and also took gold in the javelin (121-11).
Melrose won a pair of relays – the 4x100 (50.24) and 4x800 (9:43.09), and also got an individual win from Emeline Boyer in the shot put (39-10 ¼).
Milton was led by individual winners Annaleese Aguilar (100-meter hurdles, 14.06) and Ella Turner (high jump, 5-4). Aguilar also was second in the pentathlon.
Abigail Bilodeau of Blackstone Valley Tech won the 400 meters (57.13) and was second in the 200. Lavender Kozaka sparked Oliver Ames with a win in the long jump (18-11 ½) plus thirds in the 100 and 200.
Division 4
Duxbury High School also is a first time divisional champion, surviving a tight team battle at Bridgewater State.
Allison Bjorness propelled the Dragons with her victory in the high jump (5-2). Duxbury also took the 4x400 relay in 3:54.73 and compiled 52 points, just enough to finish ahead of Amherst-Pelham Regional High School (49) and Foxborough High School (44) in the team standings.
Duxbury also got third-place finishes from Tessa Long in the 100-meter hurdles, and Madeline MacKinnon in the 400-meter hurdles.
Holliston High School’s Lucy Downin was the lone double winner, capturing the 800 meters (2:14.6) and mile (5:01.26).
Four different athletes had first- and second-place individual finishes: Lauren Bober of Foxborough won the 100 (12.13) and was second in the 200; Nessa Gibson of Westfield High School took first in the 100 hurdles (14.82) and second in the 400 hurdles; Sazie Wrentmore of Wayland High School won the 400 hurdles (1:04.39) and was second in the long jump; and Allison Flynn of Archbishop Williams High School was the pentathlon champ (2,802) and added a runner-up in the high jump.
Fitchburg High School’s Jayzelle Florival was first in the 200 (25.26) and third in the 100.
Amherst-Pelham went 1-2 in the 400 with Olalar Baptiste (57.14) and Ella Austin.
Division 5
North Reading High School only had a pair of first-place finishes, but it was just enough for the Hornets to stay at the top of the standings at Bridgewater State and earn the program’s fourth consecutive divisional championship.
Kate Denehy was the only individual winner, taking the long jump (17-5). North Reading also prevailed in the 4x100 relay (51.06), which was key as the Hornets finished with 64.5 points to edge out Weston High School (62) for the top spot. Cardinal Spellman High School was in third (50).
Sophia Gallivan was second in the pentathlon and Lindsey Cook third in the pole vault to help North Reading’s cause.
Weston made its push behind double victories from Solana Varela and Leksi Sullivan. Varela captured both the 100-meter hurdles (14.62) and 400-meter hurdles (1:00.22), while Sullivan took gold in the 800 (2:13.8) and mile (5:02.85).
Cardinal Spellman also had a pair of standout performers. Abigail Clark won the pentathlon (3,068) and was second in both hurdles races, while Annaikiah Donahue-Wilfred took the triple jump (39-3 ½), was second in the long jump and third in the 100.
Audrey Bernazzani of Ursuline Academy and Kameron Getman of Nipmuc Regional High School also were double winners. Bernazzani won the 100 (12.27) and 200 (25.76), and Getman swept the shot put (37-1 ½) and discus (116-0).
Emily Flagg of Whitinsville Christian School claimed the 2-mile (10:30.9) and added a third in the mile. Destiny Okoye of Saugus High School won the high jump (5-4) and finished third in the 100-meter hurdles.
Division 6
Roxane McKenzie and Lorelai Levy each posted a pair of victories and Ayer Shirley Regional High School made history at Westfield State with its first divisional championship.
McKenzie won the 100 (12.41) and 200 (25.79), and Levy swept the hurdles events (100 – 15.20; 400 – 1:04.86) as the Panthers finished with 71 points to unseat two-time defending champion Mount Greylock Regional School (55.5). Advanced Math and Science Charter was close behind in third place (54.5).
J’aliyah Mayes also had a strong meet for Ayer Shirley, finishing second in the long jump and third in the triple jump. The Panthers also prevailed in the 4x100 relay (49.94).
Savannah Jansson of Tyngsborough High School was another meet standout, winning both the high jump (5-2) and pentathlon (3,012) and placing second in the 100-meter hurdles.
Elizabeth Zickus led Advanced Math and Science with a first place in the triple jump (36-7 ½) and a second in the 400.
Mount Greylock got a first from Nora Lopez in the javelin (122-7), as well as the 4x800 relay (9:59.17).
