2026 Girls Lacrosse State Championships: Concord-Carlisle, Walpole On Top Again; Cohasset Flips Script; Sandwich Nets First
Babson College in Wellesley once again was the site of the 2026 MIAA Girls Lacrosse Championships, with a pair of doubleheaders on Wednesday, June 10 and Thursday, June 11.
Two teams are repeat winners from 2025, including one in a title game rematch. Another rematch reversed roles from the year before, and one team celebrated a title in its first championship game appearance.
Concord-Carlisle High School made it back-to-back Division 1 championships with a 10-9 overtime victory over Notre Dame Academy of Hingham.
Division 1
Senior Sarah Fortier scored with 1 minute, 28 seconds left in overtime and No. 3 seed Concord-Carlisle High School made it back-to-back titles with a 10-9 victory over top-seeded Notre Dame Academy of Hingham.
Fortier finished with four goals for the Patriots and Mamie Kosicki had a big game in goal with 13 saves. It was the second championship in program history for Concord-Carlisle, which beat Westford Academy in the 2025 final.
The Patriots trailed 5-2 after one quarter and 6-5 at halftime, finally taking an 8-7 lead on a Fortier goal in the fourth quarter. NDA’s Sadie Lopez tied it, then Lindsay Cain (C-C) and Taylor Watts (NDA) traded goals in the final two minutes to force overtime.
Ani Woodard had three goals for the Cougars, who had won their previous five state final appearances and moved up to Division 1 before this season.
Walpole High School took down Reading Memorial High School for the second time in as many years in Division 2.
Division 2
A rematch of the 2025 state final once again went the way of No. 1 seed Walpole High School, which survived for a thrilling 12-11 victory over No. 2 seed Reading Memorial High School.
With the teams tied at 9-9 after three quarters, the Timberwolves finally took the lead for good on goals from Grace Hagan and Ava MacLean. Emma Hanifin netted the game-winner sandwiched between goals from Liza O’Brien and Lily Rodgers for the Rockets, who were unable to find the equalizer.
MacLean finished with five goals for the Timberwolves, who won a 16-11 battle between the teams the previous year and are 2-4 all-time in state finals.
Lily Rodgers scored four times and Abby Shanahan added three goals to lead Reading.
Cohasset High School reversed its fortunes from 2025 by beating Norwell High School, 9-6, for the Division 3 title.
Division 3
This rematch ended up with a different ending, as No. 1 seed Cohasset High School avenged its 2025 title game loss with a 9-6 victory over No. 2 seed Norwell High School.
Avery Regan scored three goals for the Skippers, who held a 6-4 lead at halftime and 7-5 through three quarters. The Clippers started to rally on a goal from Charlotte Maguire, but Cohasset pulled away on final tallies from Regan and Molly Campbell.
The Skippers are now 4-2 all-time in state finals, including a tough 9-8 loss to Norwell the previous year. Cohasset won the Div. 4 title in 2024 and both teams moved up to Div. 3 before the start of this season.
Norwell is now 9-3 all-time in state finals, falling short of tying Westwood’s 10 championships for the most in MIAA girls’ lacrosse history.
Sandwich High School earned the program's first championship with a 9-6 victory over Ipswich High School in Division 4.
Division 4
With both of last year’s final foes moving up to Division 3, a new champion was assured for 2026. No. 1 seed Sandwich High School made sure to etch itself in the record book for the first time by pulling away in the final quarter for a 9-6 victory over No. 2 seed Ipswich High School.
Elisabeth Stutzman had three goals, including the final one in the three-goal surge in the final period that gave the Blue Knights the win in their first title game appearance.
Paige Morrison broke a 6-6 tie with 10:40 to play, then Lydia Katzenback added another before Stutzman finished the scoring. Quinn Anderson also scored two goals for Sandwich.
Ipswich, which also fell short in the Division 4 title game in 2023 and 2024, was sparked by three goals from Ella McCarthy.
