Sam Pieczynski of Tantasqua Regional High School shot a 1-over-par 72 to capture medalist honors, and Canton High School took home the team trophy in the 2025 MIAA Division 2 Fall Golf Championships at Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown.

The event was delayed a week because of weather and moved from the original location (Foxborough CC), but that didn’t seem to bother Pieczynski. With a round of four birdies as well as an eagle on the 498-yard par-5 10th hole, Pieczynski followed up his Division 2 West championship from two weeks earlier and became Tantasqua’s first state individual champion while denying 2024 winner Zac Georgantas a repeat.

Meanwhile, Canton followed up its North sectional championship with a team score of 40-over-par 324 on the par-71 Taconic layout for the program’s first state title. Chase Thomas led the way for the Bulldogs with a 5-over 76 to tie for eighth. He was joined in the team scoring by Mason Wachtendork (T-12, 8-over 79), Teddy Shuman (T-38, 13-over 84) and Harrison Weitz (T-47, 14-over 85).

Georgantas of Foxborough High School, who had finished in a three-way tie atop the South sectional, fell a stroke short of his bid to repeat after his 2024 individual championship. With a 2-over 73, Georgantas finished tied for second with Cooper Stowell of Wayland High School.

The four-way tie for fourth place at 4-over 75 included Patrick Dalton (Westwood High School), Griffin Clary (Norton High School), Max St. Aubin (Nauset Regional High School) and Jai Moulton (Dover-Sherborn High School). Canton’s Thomas was matched by CJ Chagnon of Grafton High School at 5-over 76.

Masconomet Regional High School finished second as a team at 43-over 327, 3 strokes behind Canton, breaking a tie with Nauset based on No. 5 player scores. Scituate High School was fourth (45-over 329), with a tie for fifth between Nashoba Regional High School and Tantasqua (46-over 330).
