2025 MIAA Division 1 Golf Championship: Christopher Morrow Wins Three-Way Playoff, Lifts Xaverian to Title
Christopher Morrow prevailed in a three-way playoff to earn medalist honors, and also led Xaverian Brothers High School to its first state championship in seven years in the 2025 MIAA Division 1 Fall Golf Championships at The Ridge Club in Sandwich.
With his 3-over-par 74 over the regulation 18 holes, Morrow helped the Hawks outlast Catholic Conference rival Saint John’s Preparatory School.
But Morrow was matched over 18 holes by Connor Henrey of Longmeadow High School and Owen Shea of Arlington High School. The trio returned to The Ridge Club’s 351-yard No. 1, and it didn’t take long to break the stalemate. Morrow reached the green in 2 and then sealed his victory with a 2-putt as Henrey and Shea each settled for bogeys on the hole.
Morrow became Xaverian’s first individual medalist in a state tournament since Joe Young in 2007. But the Hawks as a team last won in 2018, and their 29-over score of 313 gave them the program’s fourth state championship overall.
Luke Edgar shot a 7-over 78 to tie for ninth for the Hawks, Quinn Dumas (8-over 79) tied for 14th, and Antonio Cillo (11-over 82) tied for 24th.
Chasing the top three in the individual battle, there was a four-way tie for fourth at 4-over 75 between Tommy Murphy of Haverhill High School, Maxx Zides of North Attleborough High School, A.J. Platek of Braintree High School and Kyle Post of Saint John’s High School.
Shrewsbury High School’s Ryan Kelley, the Division 1 Central medalist a week earlier, took eighth by himself with a 6-over 77. Finishing a shot back were Xaverian’s Edgar, Jack Carew of Saint John’s Preparatory School, Aarav Lavu of Wellesley High School, Ryan Hart of Arlington, and Jason Silva of King Philip Regional High School.
St. John’s Prep (36-over 320) was second as a team, followed by Braintree (324). Two-time defending state champion St. John’s was fourth (325) and Longmeadow High School fifth (328).
