The Secretary of the Greater Boston League (GBL) serves as the primary administrative and communications officer for the conference. This individual is responsible for maintaining accurate records of all league proceedings, managing correspondence between member schools, and ensuring that the league's administrative functions align with the GBL Constitution and MIAA guidelines. The Secretary plays a vital role in facilitating clear communication across the league’s membership, which includes Malden, Medford, Everett, Somerville, Revere, Chelsea, Lynn Classical, and Lynn English.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities
1. Records and Documentation
Minutes Management: Attend all monthly GBL Athletic Director meetings and Board of Principals meetings to record detailed and accurate minutes.
Archive Maintenance: Maintain a secure, digital archive of all meeting minutes, league votes, and policy changes for historical and compliance purposes.
Directory Oversight: Update and distribute the annual GBL League Directory, ensuring all contact information for member schools and league officials is current.
2. Communication and Coordination
League Correspondence: Serve as the central hub for official communications between the league executive board and member school administrations.
Meeting Notifications: Prepare and distribute meeting agendas in coordination with the GBL Chairman and Commissioner.
Public Relations: Assist in the preparation of official league announcements and correspondence with the MIAA.
3. Governance and Compliance
Constitution Stewardship: Ensure that all league actions and decisions are documented in accordance with the GBL Constitution and Bylaws.
Voting Procedures: Facilitate and document official league votes, ensuring that quorum requirements are met and results are accurately recorded.
4. Event Support
Awards Coordination: Manage the documentation of league-wide awards and certificates for championship events.
Summit Administration: Provide administrative support for the annual GBL Student-Athlete Summit.

Qualifications
Experience: Proven administrative experience, preferably in an educational or athletic setting.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) for collaborative document management.
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail.
Knowledge: Familiarity with MIAA regulations and the administrative structure of the GBL.

Physical & Time Commitments
Attendance at monthly GBL Athletic Director meetings (typically weekdays at 11 AM).
Estimated weekly time commitment: 2–4 hours (fluctuates during peak seasons).

Compensation
This position is compensated via an annual stipend ($5000 per season) as determined by the GBL Board of Athletic Directors and outlined in the League Constitution.
