Supporting Student Athletes Displaced by the Hurricane
MIAA is positioned to assist in eligibility certification for displaced students arriving in your school from the recent hurricane. Call upon any member of the Association executive staff for assistance in processing waiver requests for these young people.
We are aware that in many of these cases, there are no records available. We are nonetheless prepared to consider waivers of most all eligibility rules that may be potential impediments to athletic participation.
We will not set aside the Association standard requiring that each student athlete receive a physical examination prior to participation. This important health and safety standard protects young people in a most essential manner. We do not want to add one tragedy to another by enabling a young person who may be physically or medically at risk access to activity that may be dangerous.
