Karen L. Jacobus is a
consultant with the
MIAA and the Coordinator of the Health Education Program at Mt. Hoyoke College. She has
been working in the field of alcohol and drug education for the past 20 years. Karen has
conducted and coordinated a wide variety of education and training programs for students,
faculty, social service agencies, parents and the general community. She has expertise in
the areas of program development, peer education, women's health issues and sexuality/HIV
education.
Karen was the Coordinator of the Alcohol and Drug Education Program at Hampshire College
for two years and the University of Massachusetts/Amherst for five years, where she taught
an undergraduate course to train college peer educators. Previous to that she was the
Program Director of a regional substance prevention agency servicing all of Western
Massachusetts. Here she worked closely with the Governor's Alliance Against Drugs, the
other state prevention centers, and the treatment service providers. She has served on
many local and state committees and organizations related to alcohol and other drugs.
Karen has a Master's Degree in Education in Leadership and Administration from the
University of Massachusetts/Amherst. Her Bachelor's Degree from Springfield College is in
Community Leadership and Development. |
