Memo for District A, B, C, D and H

Regarding Comcast/Partnership for a Drug Free America/Court TV
Town Hall Meeting - February 1, 2005

The MIAA has formed an alliance with the Partnership for a Drug Free America (PDFA).  As a result, you will see and hear anti-drug advertisements on television and radio throughout the Commonwealth.  Attached to these ads are our logo and a toll-free hotline number that is operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week which will provide information and referrals.

One of the outcomes of our alliance with the PDFA will be a Town Hall meeting at the Great Hall in Fanueil Hall on February 1, 2005 with a time to be determined.  This meeting will be broadcast nationally and will focus on the risks involved with drug abuse.  Partners in this endeavor are Comcast, the Partnership for a Drug Free America, and Court TV.

We are trying to identify programs, clubs, and groups in our schools that are substance free and  active and involved in promoting healthy lifestyles.  We would welcome such groups’ participation in this nationally televised event.

If you have such a group or club in your school, please complete the attached form and fax it to us at 508-541-9888.  Also, if you would be interested in bringing a group of students to the event but not participating, please contact Michael Kane or Peter Smith at 508-541-7997.

Finally, many thanks for your recent responses to our Wellness Strategic Planning Survey.  If you have not responded, please take the time to do so before the holidays.  A copy of the survey has been attached to this email and can also be found online at: http://www.miaawellness.net/survey.pdf.  Your input is greatly valued and appreciated.
