"The MIAA makes a difference in the lives of students. Wellness and leadership programs along with major emphasis upon sportsmanship, integrity and ethics ensures enhanced life quality. Coaches' education also is an MIAA initiative designed to directly impact the value of participation."
The Wellness Program
The MIAA Wellness program has been nationally recognized as one of the most
innovative tobacco, drug and alchohol prevention and education programs in the country. As
recipient of the National Federation's Helen Durbin Memorial Award, this program
demonstrates exemplary effort in influencing school age youth toward more healthy
lifestyles.
Leadership Training
The MIAA leadership programs prepare educators to teach drug, alcohol and
tobacco prevention at the school level. Leadership/role model workshops are offered with
an emphasis on wellness education to provide participants with the skills and resources
needed to implement wellness and leadership programs on the local level. These programs
are offered throughout the Commonwealth.

Sportsmanship, Integrity and Ethics MIAA stresses the importance of good sportsmanship above winning. From a basic respect for rules and for others, individual responsibility is the focus of specialized programs and conferences for students, coaches and others. |
Coaches' Education Programs
Improving the quality of coaching is another objective of the MIAA. The MIAA
sponsors and delivers the National Federation Interscholastic Coaches' Education Program
(NFICEP), raising the standards of high school coaching in Massachusetts.
