Meeting October 20, 2008

Minutes

In attendance: Kim Sousa, Somerset, Gary Lincoln, Apponoquet, Mike Correia, New Bedford, Mark Ottavianelli, Taunton, Joe Marani, South Shore

Absent: Tom McDermott, Dartmouth, Chris Maury, Nantucket.

1.       Selected Old Colony Vocational as the District D Sportsmanship winner. The AD and two students made presentations to the group. Barnstable withdrew their nomination due to a sportsmanship problem from this year.

2.       Discussed selection process for sportsmanship award. Subcommittee of MSSADA member AD’s to develop a checklist to help in the process. Also this years award will be voted on in the spring at the June meeting. Working on the subcommittee is Mark Ottavianelli, Kim Sousa, Mike Correia from this committee as well as Matt Trahan, and several others from the AD’s association. Presented south coast conference team sportsmanship ballot as a model.

3.       Voted on several cooperative agreements:

a.       Southeastern/West Bridgewater Boys Ice Hockey renewal- approved unanimously. 5-0

b.       Apponoquet/Old Colony- Swimming, passed 4-0-1 Gary Lincoln abstained.

c.        Several other cooperative agreements were questioned and further research will be done.

a.       Bourne/Upper Cape- Girls and Boys winter track?

b.       Bishop Connolly/Apponoquet boys Ice Hockey ???

Vote will be taken as soon as forms are received.

4.       Verified the following disposition of cooperative teams listed on the MIAA website

a.       Somerset/Bishop Connolly girls gymnastics- expired

b.       Avon/Holbrook boys Ice Hockey- approved for two years 9/10/08

c.        Blue Hills/Randolph boys Ice Hockey –expired.

d.       Cape Tech/Chatham boys Ice Hockey- expired

e.       Dartmouth/Westport- good through this year. Needs to be renewed next year.

f.         GreaterNBV/Old Colony- good through this year. Needs to be renewed next year.

g.       Mashpee/UpperCape Ice Hockey- District C

h.       Old Rochester/Fairhaven boys Ice Hockey- approved 9/10/08

i.         Somerset/Dighton-Rehoboth ice Hockey- expired

j.         South Shore Voke/South shore Christian Ice Hockey- good through this year. Needs to be renewed next year.

k.        Tri-County/Millis ice Hockey approved 9/10/08

l.         Case/Seekonk Girls Gymnastics- approved 6/10/08

5.       Discussion regarding record keeping and communication about Cooperative agreements. Hopefully we will have our system organized and in place by June.

6.       Appointed Bill Tilden, Old Rochester Athletic Director, to the Field Hockey committee

7.       Appointed Bristol Aggie Vice Principal, Aaron Polansky to the wrestling committee.
