Spring 2019 dates TBD
YOU LEAD conferences are offered at a variety of times, dates and locations. Choose the one one that is best for you and/or your group. Total group size for each conference will be limited because of space requirements and staff availability. We will take registrations on a first come, first service basis. These conferences provide a fun and energizing day long forum for the substance free youth population that often feels marginalized and ignored in our culture.
Our mission is to change the norm of substance use/abuse in adolescent culture by supporting youth who choose a positive lifestyle free of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. The MIAA is committed to providing leadership education and training, networking and information sharing opportunities, resources and consultation, and to celebrating and honoring youth who make positive, healthy lifestyle choices.
If scheduled conference dates, times and/or locations are not convenient for you or your group, the MIAA Wellness Department would be happy to present an in-house substance free youth conference for your school that would be tailored to your group's needs.
Also, a multi-school conference with participants from other schools can be arranged. Typically the goal of this type of conference has been to bring together teams of youth from different organizations/schools in order to connect and build support for their lifestyle choices.

YOU LEAD is a middle school program created to support, connect and develop resources for youth who have chosen a lifestyle free of alcohol, tobacco or other drug use--substance free youth. As part of its full range of wellness programming, the MIAA is proud to support the positive choices that many young people make in abstaining from the the use of alcohol, tobacco or other drugs. We believe this is a population that has often been ignored in a culture that reflects use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs by adolescents as the norm. Through the YOU LEAD program, the MIAA embraces the role of advocate for the substance free youth population.
The YOU LEAD Campaign began in 1996 with one conference whose main objective was to connect young people from a variety of communities who were committed to leading an alcohol and drug free lifestyle. Since then, the demand for these conferences has grown. We continue to offer these conferences to young people in schools throughout the Commonwealth. These conferences offer young people connections with others who feel the same way about abstaining from alcohol, tobacco and other drugs as well as support and strategies for taking action in a variety of ways including creating a new or strengthening an existing substance free youth group, raising awareness about their choice and planning substance free events in their community.
