2009 NFHS NATIONAL STUDENT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

The deadline to apply for this conference has been extended until April 8!

This summer, over 300 students who participate in interscholastic athletics and school activity programs will attend the 2009 NFHS National Student Leadership Conference.  This one-of-a-kind event will be held from July 16-19, 2009 at the Indianapolis Hilton in Indianapolis, IN.

The NFHS National Student Leadership Conference will provide a unique forum for students to address the contemporary issues that impact a young person being a leader and role model.  The curriculum of the conference will focus on respect, positive values, perspective, sportsmanship, teamwork, healthy lifestyles, community service and self-evaluation.  These components will be addressed in small and large group discussions led by college and adult facilitators, as well as guest speakers sharing their stories of overcoming challenges, perseverance and celebrating their talents.  For an overview of this conference, please click here.

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) will be selecting students from the Class of 2010 and 2011 to participate in this unique leadership offering.  These students will be accompanied to Indianapolis by members of the MIAA Student Services Staff.  Special state specific meetings will take place throughout the conference.  At the conclusion of this conference, the student delegates will serve as the 2009-10 MIAA Student Advisory Committee and leaders of the MIAA Student Ambassador Program throughout the following school year.

If you are a member of the Class of 2010 or 2011 and would like to apply for an opportunity to attend the 2009 NFHS National Student Leadership Conference, please answer the following questions:

1)      What does developing leadership skills through sports and activities mean to you and how do you put your beliefs into practice in your school and community?
