Corrections/clarifications for the 2007-08 Basketball Exams
The following information was received from the National Federation on January 2, 2008 --
The following are corrections/clarifications for the 2007-08 Basketball Exams:
Part One: #62 The official should not grant a player's request for a time-out until after an injured player has been replaced when a substitute is available. (True 5-8-3b). Although taken right out of the rules book, the question is not worded well and leaves out the possibility of the team calling a time-out to keep that player in the game.
Part Two: #40 A personal foul cannot occur during a dead ball. (True 4-19-1). This leaves out contact by or on an airborne shooter, which CAN occur during a dead ball.
Three-Person Mechanics: #53 - The lead official has three-point try responsibilities from the near sideline corner to the near free-throw line extended. (True 3.3.4.B). The answer key states true, but the answer should be false. Only the center and trail officials have three-point shot responsibilities.
