RE:  MINUTES OF 9/11 NEC MEETING

1.   Moment of silence held for all those who lost their lives on 9/11/01.

2.   Treasurer's report accepted.   Balance of $1838.12.

3.   Updated NEC Handbooks handed out and reviewed - 1 for Principal & 1 for AD.  Updated Directory included in the handbook and all reminded that handbook is up on the MIAA web-site.   Following changes accepted (all have been corrected & updated on web-site handbook)
      a.  Pg. 12 - #11 - change JV to Sub-varsity
      b.  Pg. 14 - #26e - Ice Hockey 14 per div; G Lac 24, & coaches may not vote for own player, school or self.
      c.  Pg 16 - #50 - add inappropriate at beginning of sentence.
      d.  Pg 24 - #2b - add not after may & school/self at end - now reads: a coach may not vote for his own players, school or self.
      e.  Pg 32 - #2 - change 24 to 14.
      f.  Pg 49 - added new 6h: Coaches may not vote for own players, school or self.

4.   Proposed dates for Coaches meetings, NEC Events, & Media Reps accepted.  All three will be e-mailed with the minutes.

5.   All commissioners have sent out assignments an all reminded to check on a regular basis that you have officials assigned.  Direct all concerns to that commissioner.

6.   Trophy & Ribbon orders for all NEC sports updated.  Approved sheet will be handed out in Oct.

7.   PDP's handed out to everyone who qualified - from 04-05 thru 07-08

8.   Dates for Spring Sports reviewed and approved.  Shedules will be handed out at our October Meeting, or e-mailed prior (B Lac was e-mailed this past week).

9.   Following change in NEC Rules & Regulations - #58 on pg. 17 - accepted.  Now reads: Once a student is elected a team captain and he/she violates the MIAA or their own school drug and alcohol policy anytime after being elected (includes summer & out-of-season time) they will lose the privilege of being a team captain.

10.  Bills for NEC events - Swimming, Indoor Track, & Spring Track will be handed out in Oct.  Expenses for 07-08 reviewed and all in agreement to keep costs the same for 08-09.  Copy of the June Treasurer's report handed out and all owing money for 07-08 asked to check on payment.

11.  NEC will be a part of NEC/CAL Girls Volleyball schedule for Fall 2009.  Teams participating:  NEC - Bev, Pea, Sal, & Rev; CAL - HW, Lynfd, Masco, NA, NR & Wil.

12.  Discussion having the MIAA Coaches Ed program & the NEC Rules & Regulations be covered at the same time.  Winthrop willing to host first & Sec/Treas. checking with Dick Ruth to be MIAA Instructor.

13.  Correspondence & e-mails:
      a.  Swimming Schedule - Barbara Damon working on draft & will be on Oct. agenda.
      b.  Joe Abelon will again do the timing for the NEC CC Open.

14.  New Business:
       a.  Indoor Track schedule - being set up by Keith C., Rev - will be on Oct. agenda.
       b.  MS Ice Hockey - will not be done via the NEC.
       c.  Info sheet handed out that was received by Sec/Tres. on Peter Delani.
       d.  Mrbhd announced that they are having transportation issues & will call if going to be late.
       e.  Mike P, Mrbhd, also invited all CC teams to participate in a reception for Shalene Flanagan on Sat. 9/27, in Marblehead.   Team members in uniform will run from Old YMCA to New YMCA.  He also requested any Title IX info schools use with coaches to be sent to him.  Mike is also working with Endicott College for Leadership Conference date in March.
      f.  LE & LC will not have Girls JV Soccer.
      g.  LE for JV Boys Soccer will wear white only.
      h.  Salem will not have Boys JV Soccer.

.  Gary M, announced that at the Football Coaches meeting covered rule changes and evaluation form for officials with new commissioner Dick Sauchuk.
      j.  Bill D, LC is trying to get the OK to have the Paul Duchane Bsk. Tournament on Sat. 12/6.
      k.  Following Co-op's unanimously approved:  Winthrop host with Saugus guest in wrestling; & Bev. Host with Rkpt & Ips in Girls Ice Hockey as grandfathered guests (1 from each school).
      l.  Beverly announced that all Freshman and JV Football games will be at Hurd Stadium.
     m. Updated user fees, ticket prices, & AD salaries handed out.
