NEC handbooks handed out 2 per school
for Principal and AD.
5. Media reporters, Coaches Meetings, and NEC Events for
2009-2010 will be attached to these minutes.
6. All
assignments from Commissioners are out, and
anyone with specific questions should call the Individual assignor.
7. Trophy & Award orders were updated and will be
handed out at Oct. meeting.
8. NEC Directory was updated and in the front of the
NEC Handbook. Handbooks are also up on the MIAA web-site go to www.miaa.net, then click on news from the districts (right
side), then click on District A.
9. Outdoor Track coaches recommendations tabled until the Oct. NEC Meeting.

Dates for Spring Sports agreed to, and they will be out
for the October meeting.
11.
User Fees, Ticket Prices, & AD Salaries and Job
Description handed out with all updated information. These will be done at the
beginning of each year. Two additional updates: Swpsct
Tic prices 6/3; and Winthrop Family Max 2125.

Bills for NEC Events Swimming, Indoor
Track, & Spring Track will be handed out at the Oct. meeting.
13.
Motion accepted to change Golf Rule #9 to now read: Girls will play the local home course rules for women
tees and scoring.
14.
Discussion on the Basketball Schedule and moving the last game
(during Feb. vacation) to the first week in Feb. and to play 3 games. Motion defeated to make change, and can now only be
done by mutual agreement of the two schools.

Jared Scarpaci, Masconomet
AD, made a presentation to the NEC that covered a handout given to all Sports
offered and levels of each; facilities @ Masco; and a profile that outlined where they
would fit in with the NEC.
17.
Questions and discussion
covered many topics with the highlights being:
a. Competition
how the addition of 6 teams to the NEC will give all schools the opportunity to
compete at an equal level, that will then give all teams the opportunity to be successful.
b. Travel
concern voiced on the distance to and from Glo and night events.
c. Football
Dick N outlined the process for the new proposal that has been supported by the
football committee and the football coaches association, and that if passed, would
eliminate the league football schedule.
d. Academics,
athletics, and sportsmanship how all go hand in hand and program being done in
e. Why make a
change things are good as they are need to be forward thinking, and to
create divisions that give everyone a chance to be successful. Will also reduce the yearly
dues for all.

Vote will take place at the
Oct. 8th NEC Meeting and will be the
first item on the agenda. All Principals are invited to attend, and if they cannot, please
give your vote to your school representative. First vote will be to accept the

To make a constitutional change, it must be presented to
all members of the NEC at least ten days prior to a Conference meeting (NEC Constitution
F. Article VI amendments Sec. 1). Thus
Im presenting the 3 listed below, that will only be acted on with a motion from the
floor:
a.
Sports alignments via divisions
need a 90% vote to change. (Presently 2/3rds)
b. Veto power
Any present member of the NEC, will have the veto power to not play a new NEC
member in any sport.
c. Voting
power Any new members of the NEC, will not be allowed to vote on Sports alignments
and divisions for the first 5 years of membership.
