RE:      MINUTES OF AUGUST 28TH NEC MEETING 

1.       Brian Salzer, Swampscott HS Principal and NEC President welcomed all and wished the best for the 09-10 school year. He has met with the Principals and they would like to hold the actual voting for the GBL and Masco in October. All AD’s in attendance except for Scott C, Sal (sitting in For Scott was Jamie Flynn)and also Asst. AD from LE, Dick Newton attended.

2.       Fall Schedules were cross-checked prior to the meeting and the following changes were announced: No JV Girls Soc – LC & LE; No Fresh. Girls Soc – Glo; Having Fresh Boys Soc – Glo; No MS Bsbl & Sftbl – Dan; and the Ford MS in Lynn has been closed.

3.       Dick Sauchuk, Football Commissioner, handed out an information sheet with contact info, website info, contest changes procedure, rule changes, communication, and asked for input on ways he can help you.

4.       Roy Condon, Soccer Commissioner,  asked all to go to the Arbiter to check assignments and dates, and to do so on a daily basis. If any school has a problem paying of officials please make Roy aware of your problems; coaches should also be able to log on, and if they do not have a password or have a problem, e-mail Roy; If changing a game, make sure to do as soon as possible and notify Roy; coaches will now be carded if any player has illegal equipment on; shin guards must be nocsea approved; need printed roster of team at beginning of game; and make sure all goals at all levels are secure.

5.        School Directories handed out – any that did not, should bring to Thursday’s meeting.

6.        Sports Directors will remain the same, with Scott C, Sal, picking up Volleyball.

7.       Agreed that all will update site location on MIAA web-site and will try to record scores of Fall events daily. Sherry B has stated they will keep standings this Fall for NEC & CAL.

8.       Handbook updates covered and all will be in the new NEC handbooks that will be handed out at Thursday’s meeting (2 for each school – Principal and AD).

9.       Updated NEC Directory handed out and will be included in the new Handbooks.

10.      Rule books handed out for Ftbl, Vlbl, Soc, F Hoc, Golf, & Cheering.

11.      Coaches passes (25) handed out to each school. If you need more, ask Sec/Treas.

12.      Indoor Track Schedule will be on the October agenda.

13.      Updated sheet handed out on NEC Meeting Dates for school year 09-10.

14.     User Fees, Ticket Prices, & AD Salaries handed out and updated. New sheets will be handed out at Thursday’s meeting.

15.      Coaches Meetings:

          a.   Soccer – held meeting on 8/26 and reviewed MIAA & NEC rules, along with Fed. Rules from the commissioner.

          b.   F Hoc – held meeting on 8/19 and reviewed schedule and night games.

          c.   CC – Meeting on 9/9 at Prince Pizza in Saugus5:30 pm

          d.   Golf – Meeting on 9/1 @ Danvers HS – 6 pm.

16.      2008-2009 PDP’s handed out to all involved.

17.     Discussion on the presentations by the GBL (1 pm) and Masco (1:30 pm) on 9/10 meeting. All asked to invite your Principal and to keep an open mind. Packet handed out at the meeting will include the report from the Sub-Committee that met in July. 

18.     New Business:

          a.   Sheet handed out on MOORESTUFFONLINE.COM – please contact if you have any suggestions or ideas for feature and future interviews.

          b.   All reminded of e-mail forwarded from Phil Stacey, Salem News, and the importance of calling in scores if you fall in their coverage area (all listed in e-mail).

          c.   E-mails read from Nonie Hodges (Field Hockey Commissioner) – now on Arbiter, and Susan White (Gymnastics Commissioner) – also on Arbiter.

          d.   MIAA Sport Limitations Information Sheet handed out and recommended it be readily accessible for all AD’s.

          e.   Updated NEC League Championships Grid handed out and includes all from 08-09.

          f.   Discussion on NEC rule for MS students on HS teams – Motion accepted to change from 8th to MS Students, and to change from sports listed, to All Sports: Will now read – NEC unanimously supports any and all schools in the NEC wishing to request a waiver of the MIAA rule to allow Middle School Students to participate on Sub-varsity and Varsity teams in any and all sports.
