MINUTES OF 4/2 NEC
MEETING
1. All ADs welcomed along with John Kasian, Manning Field Director, and Deems Hatch, Outdoor Track Commissioner. John explained the process he uses for field use, and why whenever a change is made, it must go through him. After cross-checking dates, and official availability, track changes were agreed to. All asked to bring 2 officials if a visiting team, and if possible, the home team should have 3.
2. Banquet reservation form handed out and please turn in at May NEC meeting.
3. Awards committee (John S, Gary M, Dick B) will meet prior to May meeting at 11 am.
4. Treasurers report accepted. Balance of $21097.61.
5. March minutes accepted with 2 additions for #2 NEC Gold Pass: Vivien Mattie, Beverly,and Nicholas Kostan, Lynn.
6. Pre-season coaches meetings for Tennis, Outdoor Track, & Lacrosse went well and no recommendations needed to be acted on.
7. Sheet handed out on Spring Media Reps and updated sheet e-mailed to all on 4/6.
8. NEC Scholarship 5 applications handed in: Dan, Glo, LE, Pea, & Swp.
9. Rule Book bills, covering 08-09, handed out, along with an order form for 09-10. Order forms received from Bev, Dan, Rev, & Sal.
10. NEC Spring Events & Coaches Meetings cross-checked and no changes made.
11. Scholar-Athlete Banquet Sun., 5/17 6 pm Porthole Pub, Lynn all info needs to be in to John S, Danvers. Each school will have 8 attending. If you will not have 8, please let me know ASAP.
12. Special AD Mtg @ Bradford CC on Thurs., 5/21 agenda will be handed out at May NEC Mtg.
13. Coaches Banquet Tues., 6/9 @ Franco Am. Club in Beverly 6 pm. All info on your Community award winner needs to be given to John S, Dan, at our May NEC Mtg.
14. Wayne Silva, Ice Hockey Commissioner, handed out outline of e-mails in regards to the use of officals, and why they were used or were not. Discussion covered his role, the work he has been doing to get the best officials possible. All reminded that Wayne needs to be assigning any and all JV assignments, that helps in his recruiting of new officials. Wayne also will institute an evaluation system for coaches to use (He has already sent this out).
15. Spring Commissioners have either sent out or have up on web all assignments. Please make sure you check these, and if you see an error, e-mail or call the commissioner.
16. All pleased with the MSSADA Conference.
17. Winter Martin Points still waiting for the final gymnastics results please send to Mike P, Mrb.
18. The following Fall Sub-Varsity Schedules handed out and will be acted on in May: F Ftbl, JV Ftbl, F B & G Soc, F Field H, MS F Hoc, MS CC, & MS Soc.
19. The following Winter Varsity Schedules handed out and will be acted on in May: G Bsk, B Bsk, Ice H, Wrest, & Gym.
20. New Business:
a. Lynn English announced that they will not have
Fresh. Softball this Spring.
b. Phones Sec/Treas. to look into
costs for league so ADs could page each other, use as phone, and be able to receive
e-mail.
c. Question asked about the National AD
Conf. and the possibility of sending ADs each year like the CAL does (they send 2 and give each $1000 for
expenses).
d. Kim P, Glo, announced they will play V
Tennis at Bass Rocks and presently will be V only. She will contact schools if able to
find courts for JV matches.
e. Phil S, Pea, asked if any schools were
looking at eliminating Fresh. Programs all were looking at, but hoped to continue
if at all possible.
f. Mike P, Mrb., told everyone of
the upcoming javelin Clinic in Mrb.
g. Rob O, Win, has a MS Baseball team and
will play F teams if available.
h. Jim C, Bev, announced that he now has
a MS Track team and is looking for meets.
i. MS Fall Baseball and Softball
schedules will be available at the May NEC Mtg.
