RE:       MINUTES OF OCT. 9TH NEC MEETING

 

  1.       All AD’s welcomed along with Cam Murphy, Beverly Intern, Chris Surgeon, Mrbhd Intern, & Sean Smith, Mrbhd Intern – all interns are from
          
Endicott
College

 

  2.       Treasurer’s  report accepted. Balance of $4230.67.

 

  3.       September minutes accepted.

 

  4.       October 1st enrollment figures received from all schools and waiting for an updated 10/1 from Peabody

 

  5.       2008-09 updated Awards & Ribbons Sheets (3) handed out along with an updated sheet on the number of NEC All-Stars selected for
            each sport(dated
10/9/08).

 

  6.       Spring schedules handed out for B Lac, G Lac, Bsbl, Sftbl, B Tn, G Tn, & Coed Trk. All will be acted on at our Nov. meeting.

 

  7.       Cheering Competition is all set for Sun., 11/2 @ Bev. HS – all schools are competing.

 

  8.       Swimming & Indoor Track schedules handed out and accepted with two changes on the Ind. Trk : Mon., 12/29 meet with Dan vs LC @
            Dan will now be at 12 noon & also on Mon., 12/29 the     Sal vs Swp & Sau vs Pea – both @ Swp will be at 9 am.

 

  9.       MIAA Coaches Ed course will be offered at Winthrop on Sun., 11/16 from 9 am to 2 pm with Dick Ruth & Dick Baker. All interested
           should sign up via the MIAA.
 

 

10.       MS Basketball Schedule cross-checked and all schools listed are participating.

 

11.        NEC Events, Coaches Meetings, & Media reps cross-checked with the following changes:

            a. NEC Events – Cheering Competition now @ Beverly & Boys Soc All-Star begins at 5 pm.

            b. Coaches Mtgs – Soc on Tues., 10/28 will begin at 6 pm in the A wing & Cheering on 10/30 will begin at 6:30 pm @ Salem HS.

            c. Media Reps – Kim Patience will now be doing Field Hockey & Boys Lac will be Bev.

 

12.       Student Leadership Conference – will definitely be at Endicott College & working on date. Will continue to be on monthly agenda and
           Mike P, Mrbhd, is coordinating.

 

13.        Discussion on District A Sportsmanship award, and recommended by Sec/Treas. to support Revere HS, who received 7 individual
            sportsmanship awards during the 07-08 year.

 

14.        Discussion on the 2009 Football Schedule and the e-mail from the Saugus Principal. Since the MIAA Football Committee has yet to
            come up with what the alignments and rules are going to be for 09-12, the discussion was tabled until the Nov. meeting. Question of
            concern was if a league has cross-over games that are mandatory, but not with everyone, do they still have two playoff berths if each
            division has 6 teams. Presently this is allowed & has been allowed thru the 08 playoffs.

 

15.        Bills were handed out for MS Track, Scholar Athlete Banquet, Spring Track, Swimming, Indoor Track, and Leaders Conference.
           
Bills remained the same as last year, since the  overall total was approx. the same.

 

16.        New business:

            a. Schools competing in Fresh. Bsbl & Softbl cross-checked. All will have Bsbl & in Softb – Rev & Sal will not have teams. Schedule will
                be handed out at Nov. meeting.

            b. NEC certificates were handed out along with ribbons, awards, & medals for CC & golf. All Fall Sports directors reminded to send
                Sec/Treas. the award winners when selected.

            c. MIAA District A meeting covered that was held at NR on 10/7/08.

            d. Revere announced that they will not have Gymnastics for the upcoming 08-09 season.

            e. MS Track schedule cross-checked for participants and will be out at Nov. meeting.
