
Massachusetts Girls and Women in Sport Day 2006
February 3 at Faneuil Hall, Boston

Early a.m., Pre-Event Activities:
Mary Pratt, former player for the Rockford Peaches in the All-American Girl Baseball League; longtime coach and game official, and tireless advocate for girls and women in sports, signed baseballs for the raffle.

Welcome:
Virginia Anderson, Associate Director of the MIAA, welcomed the female athletes, their parents and guests, committee members, award winners, speakers and MIAA staff.
Eileen Erwin, MIAA Vice-President, added her welcome and addressed the crowd.
Mary Lydon, Chair of the MIAA Girls and Women in Sport Committee and member of New Agenda: Northeast, added her greetings.

The participants were also
welcomed by Donna Ruseckas, Vice President
of the Massachusetts Association for Health, Physical Education and Dance.

Gubernatorial Proclamation
Nancy O'Neil, Athletic Director at Lincoln-Sudbury High School, read the gubernatorial proclamation denoting February 3, 2006 as Massachusetts Girls and Women in Sport Day.

Senior Olympian Medalist Glafyra Ennis arrived a bit late, but wowed the student athletes with her enthusiasm.

No celebration of Massachusetts Girls and Women in Sport Day would be complete without Mary Pratt leading the student athletes in song and raffling off a few prizes from MIAA.
