New MIAA Executive Making Immediate Impact
Dick Baker Joins MIAA Team
(Franklin,
MA) Dick Baker, retired high school athletic
director as well as elementary school principal, joins the versatile MIAA staff in Franklin,
Massachusetts. Dick has
made an immediate impact as he strives to aid the Associations continuing efforts to
enhance the lives of high school students throughout the state. He will be replacing Tassos Filledes, who is
retiring at the end of August after 13 years of dedicated service to the MIAA.
Among his many duties as
part-time MIAA Executive, Dick Baker will be responsible for alleged rule
violations, eligibility waivers and the continuously changing MIAA Blue Book, the rules
and regulations that shape Association responsibilities.
In addition to these duties, Dick will also be the MIAA liaison for the
sports of Cross Country, Track, and Lacrosse.
Dick joins the MIAA after 32
years of professional experience in the public school system where he has served, among
other things, as a teacher, an athletic director and a principal. He has also served on several MIAA standing
committees including the District A Athletic Committee and the Tournament Management
Committee. Dicks professional experience
in the public schools as well as his involvement with the MIAA makes him and excellent fit
with the MIAA family.
