RE:          MINUTES OF AUGUST 28TH CAL MEETING

 

1.             All returning CAL Athletic Directors except Jared Scarpaci, Maso (Jan Smallman filled in for Jared) welcomed along with new AD’s Kelly Porcaro @ M/E and Donna Andersen @ Triton.

2.             Fall Schedules were cross-checked prior to the meeting and the following changes were announced: Pent: No Freshman Boys and Girls Soccer; Trit: No Freshman Girls Soccer;  & Rkpt – questionable on JV Field Hockey – will call if not having.

3.             Dick Sauchuk, Football Commissioner, handed out an information sheet with contact  Info, Website info, contest changes procedure, rule changes, communication, & asked for Input on ways he can help you.  

4.             Roy Condon, Soccer Commissioner, had planned to attend, but had car problems. His  Info was covered by Sec/Treas: Please go on the Arbitor to check assignments & dates; if a problem with the paying of officials please make Roy aware of your problems; Coaches should be able to log on, and if they do not have a password or have a problem, e-mail Roy; If changing a game, make sure to do as soon as possible and notify Roy; Coaches will now be carded if any player has illegal equipment on; Shin guards must be nocsea approved; need printed roster of team at beginning of game; & make sure all goals at all levels are secure.

5.             School Directories handed out – any that did not, should bring to tomorrow’s meeting.

6.             Handbook updates covered and will all be in the new CAL Handbooks that will be handed out tomorrow (2 for each school – Principal and AD).

7.             Updated CAL Directory handed out and will be included in the new Handbooks.

8.             Final Spring Standings and Hyland Points were e-mailed to everyone on 7/20/09. Anyone who did not receive, please notify Sec/Treas. and he will forward to you.

9.             Rule books handed out for Ftbl, Vlbl, Soc, F Hoc, Golf, & Cheering.

10.           2008-2009 PDP’s handed out to all involved.

11.           Coaches Passes (25) handed out to each school. If you need more, ask Sec/Treas.

12.           Discussion on Sports Directors and new AD’s Kelly Porcaro will be in charge of Swimming and Donna Andersen will take over Tennis. Football will now be in charge of the Lynnfield Co-AD’s – Neal Weidman and Bill Adams. 

13.           User Fees, Ticket Prices, & AD Salaries handed out and updated. New sheets will be handed out at the Sept. CAL meeting.

14.           Coaches Meetings:

                a.      Field Hockey – went well and Mary will send minutes out via e-mail.

                b.      Volleyball – Commissioner wants a set start time of 4 pm & NR coach will be media rep.

15.           Updated sheet handed out on CAL Meeting dates for the year.

16.           Motion accepted for Wilmington to leave the CAL beginning in the Fall of 2011.

17.           New Business:

                a.       Boys Lacrosse scheduled that was e-mailed to everyone on 7/28 accepted.

                b.      Wrestling schedule will be e-mailed out via Jon L, NA, and will be on Oct. agenda.

                c.       Agreed that all will update site location on MIAA web-site and will try to record scores of Fall events daily. Sherry B has stated they will keep standings this Fall for CAL & NEC.

                d.      Sheet handed out on MOORESTUFFONLINE.COM – please contact if you have suggestions or ideas for feature interviews.

                e.      All reminded of e-mail forwarded from Phil Stacey, Salem News, and the importance of calling in scores if you fall in their coverage area (all listed in e-mail).

                f.       E-mails read from Nonie Hodges(F Hoc Comm) – now on Arbiter, and Susan White(G Lac Comm) also on Arbiter.

                g.      MIAA Sport Limitations Information Sheet handed out and recommended it be readily accessible for all AD’s.

                h.      Updated CAL League Championships Grid handed out and including all from 08-09.

                i.       Amesbury announced they have 2-3 Senior boys on the JV Soccer team.

                j.       Triton announced they have a girl playing on the Fresh. Football team.

                k.      Nbypt announced they are looking for a trainer.

                l.       HW announced a new Field Hockey site.
