RE: MINUTES OF 8/28 CAL MEETING
1. Schedules cross-checked by all AD’s. Please make sure to follow up all changes with commissioners when appropriate. Jared Scarpaci, new Masco AD welcomed along with Paul Murphy, AP @ M/E filling in for Hardy N, and all other returning AD’s.
2. Roy Condon, Soccer Commissioner, handed out assignments and officials directory. He again reminded all about securing soccer goals, mouthpieces, & shin guards – all required mandatory rules.
3. Dick Sauchuk, Football Commissioner, reviewed information on game callelations, the handshake rule and reminded all to make sure to check the web-site on a regular basis.
4. Coaching Directories received from Ames, Ips, Lynfd, M/E, Masco, Nbypt, Rkpt, & Wil. All others will be either e-mailed or handed out at 9/9 CAL meeting.
5. Discussion on sub-varsity teams in Field Hockey and that if you need to move some Sophomores down to the Freshman team it is ok following CAL rule 48. Key is to make sure to let the other school AD know.
6. Handbook updates will be covered at the Sept. meeting.
7. CAL Directory handed out and updated. Will send out final copy this week.
8. Copies of the final Spring Standings & Hyland Points handed out. Were e-mailed on 6/15/08.
9. Rule books handed out for Ftbl, Soc, F Hoc, Golf, Vlbl, & Cheering.
10. Agreed by all to pay a JV fee for officials doing Varsity scrimmages.
11. CAL/NEC Coaches Passes handed out to each school (30).
12. CAL Sports Directors agreed to for 08-09 with the following change: Dave Dempsey will Now be the Football director and Jared Scarpaci will be in charge of CC, & Spring Trk. All Others remain as listed on the sheet handed out.
13. User fees, ticket prices, & AD Salaries handed out. Please get back to Sec/Treas. With any corrections and updated sheets will be handed out at Sept. Mtg.
14. Fall coaches meetings cross-checked and will be updated at Sept. mtg.
15. Request read from Phil Stacey, Salem News, (also e-mailed to all)asking to have both Coaches call in the scores – winner & loser. Also mentioned request from Bill Newell in regards to moorestuffonline.com and that they will be contacting you in the future.
16. Sheet handed out with all CAL meetings for the year – August thru June along with a copy of the 2009 approved Varsity Football Schedule.
17. New business:
a. PDP’s – reviewed what was done for Mary R, Rkpt, & will have for all others in Sept.
b. Brook St field in M/E is now called the Ed Field field.
c. Guy P, Gtwn, explained that he will be having 7,8, & 9th graders on JV Soc team.
d. Ames. Announced they will not have a F F Hoc team & looking for more JV games.
e. Some schools have received Vlbl officials while others have not – to check with new commissioner.
f. All reminded that Cross Country is now in two divisions – I: Masco, NA, Wil, Trit, Pent, & Nb; II: NR, Ames, HW, Ips, Lynfd, Gtwn, & M/E.
g. For National Convention – HW is unable to go, & Ips. The first alternate.
h. Lynfd handed out sheet stating they will have a mixed gender golf team for the Fall.
i. Ames. handed out site sheet & list of team captains for the year.
