RE:       MINUTES OF 4/14 CAL MEETING

1.                Treasurer's report accepted. Balance of $9207.44.

2.                March minutes accepted.

3.                Sports meeting reports accepted with one addition: D. Softball - # 1 - Passed to add ASA Bat as per National Federation Rules to rule #6.

4.                All Spring Schedules & Directories have been handed out. Anyone missing either, should contact that school directly.

5.                Discussion on Commissioners and the need to have on-line communication, in regards to assignments and changes/postponements. Draft will be presented at the May CAL meeting and then will be sent to all commissioners for input, with the intent to give everyone 1-year to have in place for the 10-11 school year. Motion accepted to re-hire all Fall and Winter Commissioners.

6.                MSSADA Conference - All pleased with programs & banquets. Discussion on moving to the following week, but over-all feeling around the state is to stay as is.

7.                Final Winter Standings and Hyland Points handed out and accepted with 1 correction: In Girls Track should have Lynfd 1-9 and Ames 0-10; thus changing the Hyland points for Ames 4 and Lynfd 5, for totals of 88 for Ames and 122.5 for Lynfd.

8.                Rule Book Bills handed out for 08-09, along with order forms for 09-10. Following schools have turned in order forms: Ames, Gtwn, HW, Ips, Lynfd, Masco, Nbypt, NA, Rkpt, Trit, & Wil.

9.                CAL Scholarship applications received from Masconomet and Wilmington.

10.            Spring Commissioners have sent all assignments out, and please direct any questions or concerns to that commissioner.

11.            Agenda for Principal/AD meeting on this coming Wed., 4/29 handed out, and also e-mailed to all this morning. Agreed to add - Hyland Divisions - should this be 7 and 7 by enrollment, geographical, or power.

12.            District A report: discussion on vote by GOC on officials fees for upcoming years.

13.            Fall Sub-Varsity Schedules handed out for Fresh B & G Soc, MS F Hoc, MS Soc, JV Ftbl, F Ftbl, & F F Hoc. Updated schedules will be available at May meeting for action.

14.            Varsity Winter Schedules handed out for B Bsk, G Bsk, Ice H, and Gymnastics. Action will be taken at May meeting for all.

15.            Financial reports were received on the Basketball All-Star games and the Wrestling Open and were included in the Treasurer's report (Bsk made 467 & Wrest lost 960).

16.            New Business:
a.        V Football 2009 Schedule (dated 4/12/09
) handed out and updated.
b.       Discussion on G Lac All-Star selection process - will be on May agenda.
c.        B Lac coaches meeting report handed out.
d.        Discussion on Lynx system and costs involved - will add to May agenda after Tom G and Jon L look into.
e.        CAL Wrestling Open for 2010 - HW will host if fully funded for Wrest by 10/30/09
.
f.         Sportsmanship Sheet used by Berkshire County League handed out.
g.        Motion accepted unanimously  to approve a co-op between Nbypt (host) and Amesbury (guest) for Boys and Girls Lacrosse for 2010.
h.        Tom G, Ips, announced that he will e-mail (sent 4/14/09) proposed Indoor Track schedule for 2009-2010 and he is waiting to hear from Methuen as a possible additional indoor site.
i.          Tom also requested that all schools participating in the F/Soph Track meet at Ips on 5/2 to please bring 1 official with you.
