RE:        MINUTES OF MARCH 16TH CAL MEETING

  1.        Treasurer’s report accepted. Balance of $10184.65.

  2.        February minutes accepted.

  3.        District A Report – all reminded that a table will be reserved for CAL at both banquets at the AD Conf. and that District A will
            meet as a group at the Conference – Time:TBA.

  4.        All Spring Schedules cross-checked prior to the meeting. Please call school direct if you find any differences. M/E announced that
            all home Tennis matches will be at the Manchester Tennis Club with 3 pm warm-up and 3:30 start. He also announced that in
            Girls Lacrosse they will play an extra period for JV (does not have a separate JV Team).  NR & Nbypt have low numbers in
            B & G JV Lacrosse and will call if cannot field a team. Triton reminded all they do not have a Fresh. Softball team & HW reminded all
            that they will play in Girls Lac the JV first, then V.

  5.        CAL Winter Events:
            a. Basketball All-Star game – went well at Triton and financial report will be forth coming.
            b. Ice Hockey All-Star game had the NEC Winning 5-4, and all coaches like the format.
            c. Indoor Track – meet went well & officials did a great job.
            d. Gymnastics – meet changed at last minute and had the need for a bus shuttle at the Bev.Y since they also had a Swimming
                meet at the same time.
            e. Cheering – All schools competed except Rkpt, NR, & Pent. Total income was $122 and all bills have not been paid yet.
            f. Wrestling – meet was held at Triton and still waiting for financial report.

  6.        Banquet report – all pleased with food and site. Will stay in Nbypt for 2010.

  7.        Final Winter Standings & Hyland Points will be on April agenda.

  8.        Three additional items for Principal/AD Mtg on Wed., 4/29:
            a. Middle School Waivers
            b. M/E moving from CC to CAL in Football.
            c. CAL Rule 15 – Chemical Health rule – ineligible for All-Star & All-League if rule violated during the season - ?:
                should this be for the school year.

  9.        Sports Meeting reports/actions  from all the Coaches Meetings held on 3/12 will be handed out at the April CAL meeting.

10.        Spring rule books handed out for Tn, Sftbl, B Lac, & G Lac. Baseball has been ordered and should be out at the end of April
             (being published on 4/24).

11.        Fall sub-varsity schedules cross-checked with the following changes and schedules will be handed out in April:
            a.  F F Hoc – No changes except need to check on Amesbury.
            b. F Ftbl – HW & NR – no team & Lynfd questionable.
            c. JV Ftbl – no change – all will have teams except Gtwn.
            d. CAL/NEC F B & G Soc – no changes.
            e. MS CAL/NEC Coed Soc   Rkpt will be added.
            f. MS CAL/NEC F Hoc – Rkpt will be added.

12.      Dick & Kathy CAL Scholarship application handed out and each school may nominate one Boy or Girl. Application is due at
           the April CAL Meeting.

13.      Swim report handed out with final standings, award winners, and financial report from the CAL Swim Open.

14.      Outdoor Track Fees were accepted as handed out on sheet from Commissioner Bill N.

15.        New Business:
            a. Wilimington announced they have applied to the Middlesex league, but as of now, are not requesting to leave the CAL.
                Process covered following MIAA rules.
            b. The following motions were approved unanimously (each school must apply for a waiver via the MIAA – Bill Gaine – Rule 53):
                - Pentucket request to allow 8th graders for Boys Lacrosse
                - Newburyport request to allow 8th graders for Boys and Girls JV Lacrosse
                - Manchester/Essex request to allow 8th graders for Girls Lacrosse
            c. Dan T, Pent, asked any schools with Wellness program (Guidance, Health, & Physical Education) models to send to him at the school.
            d. Assigning of JV Ice Hockey officials – We pay the CAL Commissioner to do this, and all should be using Joe McA.
