RE:       CAL MINUTES OF 1/6/09 MEETING

1.        All AD’s welcomed along with Greg Zagarella, Intern at Endicott, working with Elizabeth in Amesbury.

2.        Treasurer’s  report accepted. Balance of $40551.46.

3.        December minutes accepted.

4.        Discussion on the Assistant Coach Award and Mike Leydon, JV Asst. Baseball Coach, from NR approved. Dave Johnson
           will make the presentation at our March banquet.

5.        CAL Sports Meetings & Banquet are all set for Thurs., 3/12 @ Nbypt HS beginning at 4 pm  and please make sure you have
           representation from your school at each sport meeting. Banquet will be at the Nbypt Elks with awards at 6:30
& food at 6:40.

6.        All coaches meetings & CAL Events cross-checked. Only changes are:
           a. CAL/NEC Ice Hockey @ Reading Rink – Sat., 2/21 @
7 pm
           b. CAL/NEC Gymnastics Open - @ Sterling YMCA, Bev – Sat., 2/7 – 7 pm

7.        Report given from Dave D, Jon L, & Dan T on the National AD Convention:
           a. Weather – rain
           b. Dave & Dan attended a field day on equipment, fertilizing & turf (12 year span)
           c. Jon attended the XC Footlocker Championship as well as many workshops.
           d. All info is up on the web-site and they will have handouts at our Feb. Mtg.

8.        Hardy Nalley, selected unanimously as the Elliott Roundy award winner for 2009.

9.        Request for agenda items for our Principal/AD Mtg on Wed. 4/29 @ noon @ Calitri’s. Fan behavior, Schedules, & MIAA Annual Mtg
           will be included. Please forward any other Items you would like to see.

10.        All reminded that any changes made with Spring Schedules need to be sent to the Commissioner of that sport.

11.        Fall Schedules handed out for FH, CC, Golf, Girls & Boys Soccer, & Girls Vlbl. All of these will be acted on in Feb. Please make the
             following corrections: Golf – block 8 should be Thurs 10/1; CC (use schedule e-mailed on 1/8) – block 3 – Ips & NR &
Ames @ Masco,
            and on block 6 – eliminate M/E @ Ips; FH – block 5 moved to Sat 10/17; & Soccer – All Star games are on Sun., 11/1.

12.       Motion to reconsider the 2009 V Football Schedule accepted. After checking with Bill Gaine to confirm that 5 teams in a division
            is acceptable, the following motion was accepted: Nbypt will remain in Div. II and will play everyone in Div. I, so that games vs Nbypt
            will count toward the Div. I champion. Original schedule with changes was updated and e-mailed to everyone – dated 1/8/09, and is the
            approved schedule.

13.       The following proposal to the Commissioners Job Description accepted:
            #1 – Add the following sentence at the end: All information discussed during the evaluations shall be considered privileged and
                    confidential information not to be
discussed to officials, press, or anyone once the meeting is adjourned. Each sport director
                    is to make sure this is covered with all coaches and commissioners.

14.       Final Fall Standings agreed to and will be handed out at our Feb. meeting along with the Hyland points.

15.       Discussion on Fan Behavior and the following was accepted and will be enforced at all CAL schools:
            a. No foul language
            b. No negative name & or # calling
            c. No reference to officials
            d. No noisemakers

16.        New Business:
            a. Elizabeth announced that her husband is going in for Heart surgery & she will be in and out of school. Our very best was wished
                to her and her husband.
            b. The following co-ops & Middle School waivers were unanimously accepted as renewals:
                1 – Boys Ice Hockey – Pent. Host with Gtwn guest
                2 – Boys Ice Hockey – Ames. Host with Whittier guest
                3 – Football – M/E Host with Rockport guest
                4 – Boys Ice Hockey – Rockport Host with M/E & Ips as guests
                5 – Girls Ice Hockey – Masco Host with NA, Gtwn, HW, & Lynfd
                6 – Girls Ice Hockey – Wil for  Middle School Girls – Grades 7 & 8
                7 – Cross Country – Wil for Middle School Grades 7 & 8
                8 – Boys Ice Hockey – NA for Grade 8
            c. MSSADA Conference ‘07 pictures handed out.
            d. Flyers for MS Workshop (3/10/09) & New & Aspiring AD Workshop(4/7/09) handed out    – both held at MIAA in Franklin.
            e. Rockport will be added for MS sports next year – 09-10.
            f. Discussion on golf fees that schools have to pay – course, balls, etc….
            g. District A report: make sure you have completed your hotel reservations and that you have paid your dues (to Bill Johnson)
                and registered with Thom Holdgate. All info is up on the MSSADA web-site.
